I tend to have what is considered most of the time as controversial view points. I don't believe in being PC, I don't agree with gov or global warming am VERY pro-life and so on, and I have found the best way I get people to actually consider what I'm saying is to make them think I "see it from their point of view". I mean calling ferret owners SOB's? What does that accomplish? I probly would have said a whole lot worse than you did had I not bit my tongue so to speak. I try not to attack but explain so maybe just MAYBE someone will think critically for a change than to just either take someone's word for it or draw uninformed conclusions. Like that A-hole was doing. |

OMG what is wrong with that guy going on and on about how just because there had been documented cases of ferret attack that OBVIOUSLY means ALL ferrets attack!? The idiot is making NO sense!

This is a mess. More will come out and it is possible what has come out is doctored. I can see something happening to baby, and crazy parents feeding fingers to a ferret. This is sad, weird, and a mess. Paulie is too lazy to eat ground raw not in a soup--and he is HUGE. I wouldn't leave him unsupervised around a baby, which is why he will be in the FN when my friend Bobby comes to visit with his 1 year old tomorrow. However, I more worry she would play "rough" and he would react, rather than some unprovoked "attack". (Same as any cat or dog.) I'm staying out of it off this forum though--people don't know how to behave on the internet. Many are flamers and trolls in things like this.

That's very true. Half the anti-ferret remarks right now are just people trolling. Incidents like this are breeding grounds for trolls- they love getting people riled up.

 that's so weird, I was telling my mom this story last night and she basically said the same thing. Things just don't add up for it to be a plain animal attack story (at least to me and mine, but *shrugs*) |

People on that post are so off topic. They are out to say how horrible ferrets are... that isn't even the point! IDC if those people had a pet alligator... the point is the parents are totally irresponsible for leaving the child unattended and in reach of the pets. The same thing could have happened with any animal. I'm not even reading it. Its all to get people reading and fired up--which means attention and money. No one in my family liked ferrets, then they met mine. Though they'd never have one, they totally enjoy spending time with him. I never thought I'd own one and Paulie stole a piece of my heart, so I had to bring him home. Ferret people are like good horse people (you know the ones). And btw, no one would ever consider it okay to leave a baby alone with a horse. Just sayin'.  |

Here was my response to Chad the "journalist" ""OH MY GOD! Chad is a liar! There was about 3 comments on the picture in the 30+ comments that were made. MOST people wanted to blame the ferret and lay NO blame on the parents. The ferret is and ANIMAL, just like dogs and cats. Here I can do it too just like chad. That's right folk those cute furry doggies that were bread as guard dogs are known for vicious attacks leaving it's victims maimed for life. Even dead in several cases. I think we are obviously all in agreement- no way the ferret is guilty. Also, the parents were also obviously at fault. Also obviously, we are not going to change people's minds when they are already made up, because let's face it- most people are(I won't say "stupid"), but.....opinionated  Parents are guilty of something. No one has any idea of what they are actually guilty of as of yet. So lets wait and see what comes of the investigation before anyone gets all hot and bothered over this any more |
