Why are you watering down the sulcrate? I've only used it at full strength? Also make sure that you give the sulcrate 15 to 20 minutes before feeding, feed and then give the pred. ciao

I did that because mony hates the pills and just barely takes it mixed with water.

The liquids are so much easier to get them to take in comparison to the pills. I have a piller so that I can give them pills without breaking them down but it's still a battle. I'm glad that Monster is doing better ciao

Update. I'm not sure if this update is good or not as I'm worried for my boy. Lately he plays, walks around, but his back end just is all over the place. He will be dead sleeping everytime I waek him, and He just is slowing down again. My newest worry is He has this big long blue bruising under his skin on his belly and a spot where the fur is balding on his cheek/neck. It worrys me. what could be the issue?

Not sure about the bruising, but the wobbly back end sounds like the insulinoma isn't under control yet.

Bruising could be either of the following common things:
1. It's shedding time. fur that's starting to grow in can commonly look blue (assuming your ferret has dark to medium colored fur.)
2. if there is bruising with a "dot" in the middle, this could easily be mast cell tumors, which rarely cause serious problems.
A stripe actually sounds more like new fur coming in, unless Monster is very light in color. the mast cell tumors tend to be round and more blotchy if there are several clumped together.

One thing that helps with metabolism is chromium. You can feed a little extra liver daily, and this may help with the wobbliness since the chromium is a natural source of chromium. the chromium improves insulin utilization and metabolic function.
Do NOT use brewer's yeast...the cars are BAD, and they override any benefit the chromium in the brewer's yeast may have.
You can also buy supplements- chromium picolinate is available. But since liver is a healthy, natural food sorce, it'd safer than an artificial supplement.

Isn't liver the bloody part of a chicken? If so...Time to make soupy because they won't touch that stuff.

They have to have liver to keep their own blood minerals balanced. My guys eat it in their ground mix. I discovered this summer that my guys weren't getting enough and I upped it. You can often buy chicken liver and beef liver in pkgs at the grocery store. I have a couple of furkids who won't eat it either so that's why it's in the ground mix. The rest of the time they get it when they eat the whole prey. ciao

Hey Hey So I have a question... I have the lite glucose meter and have been testing for the past three weeks. One every 2 weeks basically. No I haven't gotten it tested against my vets, doing that tomorow, but I wanted to get a base reading to see his patern of up and downs once I got it calibrated. For the past week, I have noticed jack jack being really slow and sleepy. It was the same symptoms as monster. I pulled out my meter, tested him, and he scored a 68. Monster who has insulinoma scored 72 one day and 78 the next. Can a meter be swaped? low when it should be reading high. Because I hope jack jack doesn't have insulnioma. I will post on the difference between meters and on jacks test.

Sounds to me as though Jack is insulinoma I very much doubt that the meter is reading backwards. ciao
