Hey Hey!
Jack's blood was 96. Monys blood was 56. My test showed 28 on Monsters same blood. Should I x each test result by 2 or Add 28? because 28 x 2 is 56. and 28 + 28 is 56.

Did you test their blood back to back? Where did the original numbers come from? The problem as I see it is blood sugar fluctuates from hour to hour (when it's not stable even more often, which is what makes it so difficult). You could calibrate your settings by getting your vet to test your furkid, either one of them and then testing them yourself with the same blood sample. Then you could play with the math, otherwise your comparing apples to oranges ciao

lol that's what I did. We used the same blood. My test said 28. The vet's test came back 56. So is the different 28?

I guess what you look at is that your reading is 28 points low in comparisson to that of your vets. It's not entirely accurate but it allows you to guesstamate. So each one of your tests you now add 28 to your result. This should give you an approximate number to go on. ciao

Question!! Monny gets meds 10-11 am, 0.6cc of pred. And 0.3cc 9-11pm. At what time should I start a log of his glucose tests? Between the times?

Hey all So I called my usual lupron injection vet and he's saying the shots close to 200 for deslorin. :sigh: So I'm going to see how I can get my other vet to possible order for me two implants and save money. However!! How would one get the lupron shot information to get the vet to order that? And melatonin implant. I'm thinking of going that route if the deslerin doesn't come through. My two current vets are, A. An exotic vet that knows alot about ferrets but can't remember me. B. A vet that doesn't normal do exotics but has done ferrets before and knows certain stuff. What he doesn't know, I fill him in. What I don't know, He fills me in. Before I started doing lupron at the vet, My other vet said that if I found the information and how to deal with it. He would get it for me. So. I have the information for des. but can anyone point me to some stuff about lupron and how to obtain it for my vet?

i guess I'd never thought about having to get lupron info to a vet The ones I've used always have it on hand for adrenal ferrets. Here's a link to miamiferret about lupron(leuprolide) www.miamiferret.org/about_lupron.htm

I just asked my vet to order it. The des was a different story, but she's ordered it and I will see what happens. Pooka had her first lupron shot last week. She's doing a bit better, that's all I can ask ciao

I sent the information to my vet. ^.^ But I feel bad for monster because his shot is over due. I'm hoping the shots come through to that vet.

If he's overdue, I'd really have the lupron shot done by the previous vet, rather than waiting. We were trying to get all ours to the vet on the same day, rather than 3 different days of the month. Just by Sinnead's shots being delayed by a week on two separate occasions, she lost all her tail fur in the spring, and it hasn't come back. Plus her behaviours have never gotten quite back to what they had been prior to delaying the lupron.

Yeah. I was thinking the same but now I'm coming to a realization that I don't think the lupron had worked. I'm calling the vet tomorow to have a convo with him about the shots and see if he can't order deslorin as well.

one thing about the Des. is that it takes a while for the vet t get through the paper work. Then it took 3 week before the Des. came in. This time of year, mail tends to be slower too.
I opted in favor of using a lupron depot 4-month shot, which I don't think was helping anyway. we implanted the d about 2.5 weeks after the lupron injection, which was completely ineffective.
Des. can be given with melatonin. you can try some oral melatonin. Or you can talk to your vet about an implant. your vet will probably have to space the implants out along the neck/shoulder area if you decide to try a melatonin implant.
