Even the least imaginative grocery stores carry the basic meats....pork, chicken and beef. There's 3 that you can use. As far as the bones go...you will probably have to use chicken but that's ok as long as the muscle meats that you use is different. Another meat that a lot of grocery stores carry is turkey. My guys love salmon and haddock you can use that for meat too. ciao

I'd at least call the exotics, and set an appt. for a wellness check, so he/she can at least see your ferrets, and start a record of them. And can you buy lamb or turkey in the stores? Cornish game hen is another protein.

My guys steal the dog's bones I don't give them the bones. The only thing they can get out of those bone is some of the attached meat and the marrow. The bone has little use to them as they cannot grind through that size of bone. Don't feed cold cuts, cured and smoked meats are really bad for them (too much salt) ciao

Pick yourself up a large turkey, and as it's thawing, chop it up, baggie, and refreeze! You'll have a ton of muscle meat out of one of those

Nooooo, no raw hides. They're not good for dogs much less ferrets. They can cause blockages. ciao

Definitely not rawhides! I know one woman who had her 6 month old mastiff in for surgery for a blockage a couple months ago because of a rawhide. And I quit giving them to my dogs(when I had them), because I caught them trying to swallow the last "knot" whole. With the turkeys(and the same goes for most meats), get the cheapest store brand one there. Those are less likely to be "enhanced".

Ok. I'm fairly sure you can get chicken, beef, pork, and maybe lamb once every couple of weeks or so. Here's a suitable menu for just those things.
Mon: Chicken wings, pork chunks Tues: beef chunks, chicken legs, chop/crack the bone open Wed: chicken thighs, crack the bone open, heart meat, Thurs: Pork chunks, chicken ribs/backbone Fri: Beef chunks, chicken wings Sat: chicken legs, crack the bone, liver Sun: chicken ribs/backbone, pork chunks one week, lamb the next
When you can get duck, or cornish hens(small chickens in the freezer section), substitute for the chicken. They can eat the neck/ribs/backbone/wingtips from the duck. Use the rest in place of the beef/pork muscle meats. Also, I'd get some pure pumpkin(not the spiced pie filling). It will say pure pumpkin on the label, and be in the baking section. Give them about 1/2 tsp of that a day. You can also make a raw soup, throw in some powdered eggshell, 1/2 tsp per 8 oz of meat, and give them that once a week in place of a bone in meal.

i was wondering bout the meat chunks....do they count as muscle meat? for the chicken thighs, i dont know if its normal, but the ones at my grocery store are mainly meat and only one bone, so it wouldnt supply a lot of bone...im deffenately going to try and get the pumkin.for the duck for soe reason its never where it says it should be! theres a sign that says turkey, chicken and duck but theres always only chicken! ill check my butcher shop, somehow i never thought of asking them for duck or turkey...
ive been giving them chicken wings or backs everyday and they still have diarrhea and it smells AWFUL! i dont know if its just me, but their smell has gotten really strong!!!

I would be taking a stool sample in for analysis. Sounds like your little ones have a bug or parasite. There should be no reason why your little ones have the runs like this....unless they're sensitive to chicken ciao

whats weird is that molson has been eating meat for almost 2 years now...my boyfriend&i have been talking and thinking bout it, i think its scratch having issues with the meat because the liquid poo has only been showing up in the litter since i've tried to switch him and now he eats it but it hasnt stopped. could it be that scratch just cant adapt to the new diet? oh and molson's weight is back up and hes got a chuby bum again! i thin kit wa sthe heat that made him lose a bit of weight.

It sounds like Moslon may have a mild sensitivity to chicken. Either that, or there's some sort of bug. Either way, you need to rule out medical with a stool sample being tested. Until we know what it is- we can't help.
