Hey Erinn,
I just wanted to apologize for DISAPPEARING FOR SO LONG! I'm so sorry! Things have been nuts finishing up school (only a few more weeks!), new boyfriend, new hobbies that are sucking up time. The raw switch is going well and everyone is eating bones now! I will get you a finalized menu plan in the next day or two and then we can see what we can do about graduating them. Sorry for the delay, just wanted to let you know everyone's doing fine and life has been crazy. Thanks so much for your patience!

Oh I'm glad to hear from you! I know life can be crazy but I appreciate you catching me up. Let's get your kids GRADUATED! I hope school is going well, and the new boyfriend is making you happy! Give the kids snuggles for me.

Here's the menu I'm currently using for your approval! Monday: AM--chicken with bones PM--turkey necks Tuesday: AM--pork chunks PM--beef chunks Wednesday: AM--Cornish game hen PM--chicken with bones Thursday: AM--ground turkey PM--chicken hearts Friday: AM--chicken with bones PM--turkey necks Saturday: AM--chicken with bones PM--Cornish game hen Sunday: AM--liver PM--soup The reason I say "chicken with bones" is because I buy the variety pack at Walmart (backs, ribs, thighs) and cut them into smaller pieces that I mix all together, so they're always getting a variety of chicken parts on bone days. I know it's kind of a bland menu. Right now I can't afford Nature's Variety (still jobless) so I'm not feeding venision, rabbit, or lamb, but I intend to add those and other available meats (such as those from Hare Today) when I have the money. Amount-wise, the older girls eat 2-4 ounces each per day, Nuka eats 3-4, and Sully eats 4-6 ounces per day. I'm still concerned that the older girls aren't putting on their winter weight yet and haven't shed, although none of my ferrets have ever seemed to go through the heavy shedding that I've read about. I give them very fatty chicken parts and typically the pork has a lot of fat too. Should I be worried? Thanks Erinn!

I wouldn't be worried yet, my kids have only barely started shedding and haven't really put on any weight yet. My kids typically don't get there until mid-November!
I know you're looking for a job and when you do get one, will add more variety to their diet, which I do think they could use - but your menu otherwise looks good. I'm going to have Giuli come check it out and see what she thinks, and hopefully we can get you graduated!

Well, except for my mom and I, everyone in our house got the flu, including all 5 fuzzies. As of last night, they're showing a huge decrease in appetite, so I'm taking them back to soups for a couple days and if that doesn't work, I'll be syringe feeding soup to all of them.

Everything looks to be in order here. Now that you've completed the switch and had your feeding schedule reviewed, its time for you to officially graduate from the HF Mentor program and for us to retire this thread to the "newbie switch archive"! No one (yourself included) will be able to post in this thread anymore once its been moved to the archive. Please begin posting your diet-related questions in the "whole prey" "raw" or "general feeding questions and discussion" area. We encourage EVERYONE that is archived to continue posting. Feeding a natural diet is a learning PROCESS, there is much to learn after making the switch. There is always lots to learn, and lots to share with the newbies on the site. If you feel comfortable offering the newbies advice, then by all means go ahead. The more help we can get, the better. If you'd rather lurk and not post, thats cool too, its just always nice to have our graduates stick around. We (your mentor and I) will run a detailed "check up" with you (via PM or email) at the 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, and 1 year anniversary since "going natural" just to make sure all is going well and that you arent having any issues. Congrats on all your hard work and on your graduation!!!

Oh no, the flu! I hope everyone is feeling better soon, Amber. Keep up the soups and they'll be okay! And... Congrats on the graduating! I'm very proud of all the work you did!
