Sorry you aren't feeling well. I think I am coming down with something too....and 3 of my 4 kids are also sick. No fun! The soupie should be good for about 6 to 8 hours, but will need to be changed after that. I actually slip a bit of the powdered duk soup into the mixture from time to time. My 2 new ones I am currently switching love that! I have not offered mine kibble back yet, but I am monitoring their weight very closely. If you can do that, give it a try. Offering the kibble seems to make the switch longer and harder sometimes. I am weighing every day just to be certain. Also, sometimes you have to force them to taste it. Scrape some on their mouths, or try to get some into the mouth...then back off for a moment for them to get a taste. Then try a spoonful unforced and see if they try it. Your one that is eating meat is doing super! Wouldn't life be simple if they all would just give in? Offer the wingettes for another day or so, then try a leg or some thigh meat to begin offering some variety. Sounds like you are on a great start!

Thanks Jaycee I'll be sleeping on the couch tonight. The kids aren't happy with me cuz I'm not playing with them. But I'm not gonna risk getting them sick. I'm sorry your coming down with a cold, and that your kids are sick as well Hope you all get better soon! If I feel better by tomorrow, I can go to the store to pick up everything I need. If not, they'll be starting Friday, or Saturday (and they'll get to try some turkey!!...only meat I'll actually eat, and only twice a year...). I'll try the keeping kibble anyway and weighing them everyday, thanks! Also, can I add a can of A/D to their soup? They're used to it...or some chicken baby food? I was thinking the A/D cuz it might help keep their weight up. Blah, I'm going back to bed....After a shower *ick* I hate being sick.

Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner. Between work, kids and a husband, I was tied! I would add the chicken baby food if they like it and are use to it. I used whatever tricks I could think of to get mine to eat. My two newbies are now eating my soupie pretty much on their own...with the help of a dash of uncle jims duck soup for flavor! Try the blend with the chicken baby food...hope it goes well!

No problem. I pretty much go on and check my mail then lay down again *cries* I'll do the baby food, thanks Also since I'm sick, they haven't tried yet. I don't want them to get sick in case I do have something contagious to them. And even doped up on meds I feel crummy

I'm betterish (still have a bad cough), but I've gotten a bit worried about Drake. I'll be taking him to the Vet tomorrow, and once I get the ok from the Doc, I'll be giving them the raw tomorrow hopefully starting around 5pm (if I get the 1-3pm appt like I want). They have all gained weight again, being on the kibble this last week. I'm happy about that, and hopefully they continue to gain. The meat is defrosting in the fridge and I'll be making their soupies in the morning Thanks Jaycee Hope all your kids, and you are doing good

Kids are doing better...me not so much. I have lost my voice over the past few days and that makes work difficult as I have a patient caseload that I have to be able to talk to. How did the soupie go today? I am glad to hear you are doing better and your little fuzzies are gaining good weight.

Sorry Jaycee, I feel asleep pretty early. No surprise that Gloria eats it on her own. Drake wouldn't touch it (he doesn't like my cooking *tear*). I had to trick Laura to eating it on her own, I swear, has does the most LITTLEST licks ever! And Bandit took it off my finger no problem. I have my bedroom door closed so the cats won't eat it, Lightning loves it. Got some licks in before I chased him away. They're not to interested in it, though it doesn't have the liver or the heart in it (store didn't have hearts in and forgot the liver). I dunno what to do with them, Drake mostly as he doesn't seem to like any of the raw foods

I know it isn't always recommended, but to get mine going sometimes I would put a dab of tone or vite on the raw. They start licking the "icing" ....then dive into the "cake" so to speak. Have you tried adding some duk soup to the mix yet?

Thats what I tried...Well, it was the raw duck soup. I think what I'll try, is the soup that I usually make, but raw instead. Well without the kibble. Usually I make a big batch that had about 4 icecube trays full. 6 boneless skinless chicken thighs a couple hearts (chicken) 2 eggs/one egg shell 2 chicken/andor Turkey baby food 1 can A/D (I only put that in when one of them is sick) Water and Ferrvite (one big squirt) And usually I add 1/2 to 1 cup of ground kibble, but I'll leave that out. I'll make the batch smaller, and use raw instead of boiled. Any ideas on how to change that "recipe" a bit more healthy? Or does it seem ok? I was thinking maybe 3 chicken thighs, 2 hearts, one egg, 1 tsp egg shell, 1 chicken baby food, water and the ferrevite. They really didn't like Giuli's recipe Whats the soup recipe that you used Jaycee?

Your recipie sounds pretty good to me. Maybe leave the ferretvite out of the mix and only add a drop when trying to entice them to eat.
I don't have a recipe, sorry. I use that Uncle Jim's duk powder and just add a bit to my soupie (chicken/broth mixture) for flavor. Mine love that....haven't had much trouble getting my two new ones to eat that batch. Then I just reduce the amount I put into the soupie until they eat it without. Same for the broth. Reduce slowly until gone...and the next think you know they are eating plain raw.
