So just to make sure my information is clear, The weasels should get roughly a ounce of organ meat for each week of meals.
1 ferret = 21 oz of meat in a week. 2oz of organ meat per week. 13 oz of bone meat. And the rest is meat meat. Does that sound like a good combination?
1 45lb dog = 77 oz per 7 days = 4.81 lbs per 7 days His ratio is
For simba, He gets 10 oz of organ meat out of 77 oz, and 10 oz of bone meat.

Ok, for your ferrets the meat to bone ratio is going to depend on the ferrets themselves (that's the difficult part). They should on a minimum get 4 or 5 days of boned meat per week (their calcium needs are very high). I just did the calcs for your dog and at 2 percent weight ratio you should be feeding closer to 7 lbs per week (the actual number is 6.3 lbs) at .9 oz per day so about 3/4 of a pound. Now, this would also depend on how active your dog is. If you find that the weight ratio that you're using is working then that should work. Last year at that ratio, my boy would be loosing weight (I had to feed closer to the 3% or a bit higher) This year, he's not been as active so the 2% is working fine. He gets boned meat every 3 or 4 days (he has a tendency toward hard stools and has a hard time processing bone). Again this is the whole adjust the diet to the animal. Your kitty should be about the same ratio. Between 3 and 4 percent of the desired body weight with the needs leaning more toward the ferrets than the dogs. My kitties actually eat the same food as the ferrets. Make sense ? ciao

Yup Yup!! thanks a ton.
I noticed sim has hard stools so I gave him some pumkin to help clear everything out. He's gonna get more meat vs beef necks.

Two Raw fed ferrets out of 11 now. Tulia's coat is sooo...fluffy and pillow soft. She's amazing on raw. oh and my room mate pissed me off by saying that raw wasn't good for them. He said, " A kid may like chocolate but you don't feed that to him every day. " URGH!! He doesn't care that I do it but just doesn't know any beter. Yet he feeds his horses a natural diet.

Some people need convincing, others just never get it. Look at the argument a few months ago when someone raised the topic of giving mice and rats to ferrets on a snake/reptile list. They were shot down and told that they were going to kill their ferrets. Yet there's a group of people that are all about feeding natural . ciao

The same way that you would feed mice I have a hard enough time finding frozen. I've just got a supplier now. I have to give them a call and see if I can get a shipment. ciao

I don't know to be honest. I don't know of anyone who feeds the chicks live. I can tell you this though, chicks should be treated as treats or candy, not as food. According to anything I"ve read, your little ones will love the chicks. Despite that, they have little to no nutritional value same as your pinkies. They're after all just babies, they've not had time to develop any true nutrients. Just to keep this in mind. They're great as a filler, candy but don't use them as food. ciao

Everyone gets to share about 9 oz of chicken wings, chicken breast, Pork Chop peices, Beef mush with liver, soup, or pumkin atleast once every 7 days. Sometimes I'll mix the meats.
I guess if I wanted to do raw I could up the amount and wean out the kibble.

I use this post a lot to think. lol It's like my blog.
Update- Everythings been on a stand still because I am waiting for paychecks to come in.
But I've been thinking a lot. Do grinders grind up big bones? Grinder or meat processor?
I also really have no plan on pushing raw. I worry about monster and can't really wean kibble for him. I can put more raw in and hope they eat it. Hmm. I

Food processors and blenders won't cut it....some meat grinders won't either. You have to be very careful. There was a thread here that was started a long time ago about grinders. I honestly don't think anyone grinds on this board any more. You can always ask. You will have to do what you think is right with Monster. Calypso is still just raw fed, so I will have to wait and see. She's fed 3x a day with meat available to her 24/7...so far we've only had a couple of attacks and they were minor. ciao
