So is it normal for tulia to get upset when i take away her stash? She REALLY starts running around and jumping at the trash bag. I left a bone with her and she had the guts to start hissing at me. Evil weasel.

Another update-> Did the mistake of leaving monny without food for more than 3 hrs and I had to make him eat. So I didn't force him to eat any pork.
The kids get to share a 9 oz porkchop cut up includding the bone.
Sim had two beef neck parts, and a chicken thigh that I ripped from the chicken. He was hesitant about the chicken untill I broke it up more.
I researched that a 45 lb dog should eat 1lb of food a day. Do you have any recomendations on how to make sure he has a balance of nutrients? Do you feed organs etc? He is still getting kibble but only untill I mke sure I know how to give him the right nutrients. Information seems dead on that part of the deal

It took me a few minutes to find this....I measure nothing any more So it usually means that I have to look up when people ask me for quantities. I feed about 1/4 to 1/3 lb of organ meat to 4 lbs of meat. I hope that helps a bit ciao

Hey Hey. This is my update for the moment. I pulled an idea out of the hat and bought those metal shower curtain round guys. Than I took one of my little boxes with it's plastic zip tie's and hung up two peices of chicken, and than secured it to the bottom of the cage. It was a mix. One chicken "leg" the big things got torn off and turned into a random bone with jerky on it. The other wasn't touched much but than that one wasn't cut up to heck like the last one. Than I got whole chicken for my dog, pork chops for the weasels, and more beef neck. Spent 20 total on food. They have had pork chop one night, and two days later Tulia's still chewing on the bone. My base plan is-> Get everyone eating three different types of meat freely, and with out an issue. Than take away the kibble. My main problem is dakota. She eats soup..but is a big pain in the ass when it comes to eating anything else.

You've basically reached the state of work in progress. It's one of the joys of a large furfamily. You may or may not be able to get rid of the kibble depending on your insulinoma ferrets. At present I still don't have kibble but that doesn't mean that I won't have to as the disease progresses. I take it from day to day. I hope that I can work it without the kibble. They have food available for them 24/7 so there should be no real reason why I should have to go to kibbles. Your plan makes sense, just keep an eye on who's eating and who's not. Monthy weigh ins on the healthy furkids and weekly on the ones who you are either not sure they're tucking into the raw or are sickies. ciao

Hey Hey
How would you feed chicks?
Also. monster has baby food poop. Gave him pumpkin but he's still shooting squarts.
Also. Tulia only wants to eat meat now. -.- So...one fully fed meat eater? Everyone ate kibble while she chowed down on a meat stick

Yay...Tulia. You go girl I've got guys who won't touch kibble except to dig in it. A bunch of them got into the kibble that I was feeding Yuri when he first came in. There was kibble everywhere but none of it had been eaten. They were snorkeling in it. I add bone meal or ground egg shells to my baby food (make my own but I also use commercial). I've found that because there's not the calcium requirements that are needed for ferrets, they've a tendency to have loose pudding type stools if they're on baby food for a long time. ciao

Okay! so..dakota tasted chicken for once. Didn't like it but wasn't at all rejective about it. Monster will eat meat that is fed to him so he doesn't have to fight it. I guess if that's what I have to do..thats what I have too do. I'm thinking that I should do a weekend trial of raw. Take the kibble from a group of give, feed them soup and than put in some chicken wings/ chunks. Work with that group on raw and than switch to the next four leaving out monster so I can work with him privately.

If you've got time to closely monitor your little ones, give it a go. I have concerns regarding your little sick ones though. I hand feed my sickies 2 and 3 x a day. If they eat any of the meats that's are already available on their own it's great, if they don't they won't get sick from not eating at all. Good luck and please let me know how it goes ciao

Yes, which is why I was going to work on his privatly. I just got my show cage and if need be, I could put him, dingo, and maybe jack jack in the cage while the groups are split up in the fn.
After reading to your posts, I am most likely going to make sure to hand feed him in the am-pm leaving the usual amount of meat for the kids.
So question-> How do you feed weasels tripe, kidney, and liver? I feed simba raw now so he has a mix but won't eat tripe, kidney, and spits the liver out if it isn't frozen. lol

I usually feed a ground mixture of organ meats and ground meat and bone. It's actually my soupy mix but without the broth to make it liquid. A lot of my guys don't like the organ meats on their own, so I just can't be bothered with the whole fighting with them to eat it. I just grind it all up together and they get it that way. They also are getting some in the prey animals they eat too. ciao
