I'm your mentor, my name is Maria. I own 3 fuzzies Weezer, Lillian and Ravi. Weezer and Ravi are marked dark eyed whites and Lillisn is albino. I got Weezer October 8th '07, Lillian on November 24th '07 and we just got Ravi 2 months ago. I started trying to get Weezer to eat raw right away but also fed kibble for a couple months. Lillian and Ravi took right to raw but Weezer was much harder to switch. They eat all raw with the exception of kibble once in the blue moon.
Your fuzzies are doing great!!
My fuzzies have eaten a whole chicken leg before but the bone does take some getting used to. Most people start out with wings since they are much softer. If you want to try some wings and organ that will be a huge mile stone, usually once a ferret is eating bones the rest is very easy to get done.

Hi Ok, so next time i need to buy them food ill get some chicken wings for them to try. Im going to try and start with a bigger variety once their poops arnt so nasty. My dog usually gets all the inside stuff from the thanksgiving turkey no one ever wants. He got all the insides on thursday, but this saturday im saving it for the ferrerts (i have more than 1 family... so we have a couple thanksgiving days) Wednesday night, neither of them ate much. Together they ate about half their chicken leg. But thursday night when i got back from RI (thanksgiving @ my aunts house) it was late and they were STARVING. They ate all the meat off the half they didnt eat the day before, and another whole leg. Plus a little of the ends of the bone. How much should they be eating now? They on average have been eating most the meat off of the chicken leg (together) and some of the bone. I dont take it away, they just dont want anymore and go off to play. I tried offering them more later, when they were done playing before going back in their cage but they didnt want it. Is it enough for them?

Wow, they are progressing fast!
Most ferrets eat between 1 and 3 onuces each, each chicken leg is normally about 4 ounces so the amount thay are eating sounds about right.

I saved the half eaten bones with a little meat left on them and tonight i have them the bones plus a another leg. I left them in a smaller cage so they could eat and it would be easier to clean and less messy than me holding it for them. I went up like 20 mins later to check on them and ALL meat was gone off of 2 of the bones and they were working on the 3rd one. Im thinking about giving them a frozen pinkie (im going to the petstore tomarrow to get more mice... and they sell frozen mice too) Im trying to breed mice, hopfully its going to work out. No name is REALLY interested in the mice. He trys his hardest to get to the table they are on. I dont think he knows their food yet (or maybe he does, we found him on the side of a highway, so he might already know they are food) but either way he really wants to get on that table. Do you think its to early to try and give them pinkies since they just started eating chicken?

You've got some piggies there!!
You can try mice as soon as you want. Lilly's first meal was a adult mouse which she shared with Jillian. Since you are going to be at the pet store why not grab them each a pinky and an adult mouse to share?? I'm sure that will have no trouble eating them.

Ok ill get them some depending on how much they cost. Im planning on getting a bunch more mice, so i have to make sure i still have enough money. Should i leave chicken in the cage for them all the time? So far ive been feeding them once a day usually around the same time every day... Is that okay?

I went to the petstore today and got 2 of the CUTEST mice i have EVER seen. Mice are usualy just mice but omg they are cute lol. I dont know if ill be able to feed their babies to the ferrets. Im forgot what he said their called but they are white and grey with fluffy fur. They are babies now, the adults they had there were pretty big for mice. Im going to try and get a pic of them so maybe someone will know what breed they are. They were out of pinkies, all they had was adult frozen mice so i decided to wait until another time. The ferrets are upstairs in the small cage together eating right now. I gave them their usual chicken leg but with a small piece of beef liver (i stole it from Baileys dinner, he had a ton raw turkey necks from thanksgiving so i dont think he will mind lol) Im not sure if they will eat it, they didnt seem to like it. But ill go up and check on them in a little bit to see how theyre doing. Thanks. I want to make one with Bailey and the ferrets but i have photoshop on my computer(that doesnt have internet) and this is my dads computer. And for some reason he doesnt want me to put photoshop on it

If you can PM the pics to me I'd be happy to help you. I had spent a few years owning and breeding mice.
If you post in the general ferret section I'm sure someone will help you by making a siggie. I don't have any editing software.

Sorry i couldnt update yesterday ive been busy this weekend, trying to figure out how to save my neighbors dog(lonng story.. i posted about it in another section).
I tried giving them beef liver but they wanted no part of it. So they are still on just chicken. They like raw egg too. How should i try to get them to eat a new food? They didnt like the liver... all they have had so far is raw egg and chicken. How much longer until their poops are normal? Cause its getting reeeeally disgusting to clean every day. Espescially now that we have having a little problem with using the litter box, i have to clean the whole bottom level because it has all become one big litter box for them. Its pretty watery and slimey and stinky and jsut not fun to clean (no poop is really fun to clean.. but this stuff is NASTY)

You should probably try some chicken liver so it will still smell like the chicken they are used to. Beef liver is much stronger in smell and flavor then chicken liver.
As for the poops, how much egg did you give them? And how many times have you given it? Eggs will cause icky poops. And how are they doing bone wise now? They may not be getting enough of it yet, bones act like fiber.

They may not be getting enough of it yet, bones act like fiber. Just once, and not much, like half of it (and they didnt even eat all of it anyways). And it was a while ago (like at least more than a week) so i think it would have passed by now. They are eating more of the bone. They are confined to the bottom level of their cage now(working on getting them to potty in the litter box) so ive been leaving the leftover chicken bones in there and this morning i looked and it was half the size it was last night. Ok so next trip to the store... chicken wings and chicken liver

I'm sure the poops would get better, even though they are eating bone it may take another week or so to straighen out. I know it seems like a pain now but once their bellies are settled it will be much better.

I know it seems like a pain now but once their bellies are settled it will be much better. Yay, they're using the litter box again. Their poops still nasty but at least its eaiser to clean now. They've started "fighting" over food now... is that normal? They each hold one end of the chicken and make alot of noises and jump all around and over eachother trying to get the other to let go. There hasnt been any biting or anything just alot of noise. Is it normal for them to do that? I tried giving them each their own peice but they still fought over the same one. They also seem a little less playfull when they are out. When i first let them out they are hungry and know its feeding time and are all excited, then after they eat and go to play they dont really get has "playful" as they used to be. Jasper actually went to sleep durring playtime after they ate (he never has slept outside the cage durring playtime before..) Maybe its because they are just really full?
