Well tonight i mixed some of the Wysong's Archetype 1 with the raw food and duk soup tonight and Skunkers again ate most of it.. I just put them away in the cage for the night with some wet Wysong's Archetype 1 and I just caught Thomas J eating it. Another good sign. Happy Birthday Skunkers!! 8/28/05. Another Question, are some of the raw meats with produce in them OK to give ferrets?? Like Alfalfa, greens, ect.

So are you saying if I put some thawed raw meat in the refrigerator it is good there until its throw away date? It said December, 11 2008. I am just confusing you now, LOL. December 11, 2008?!?!?! What type of meat is it? Is it FRESH meat? Meat usually expires after a week or so, if meat is fresh until December (when its not even september yet) then it probably has preservatives in it. Is this a frozen commercial raw product? If so, that's different. I believe that means use by Decmber 11, 2008. Thawed raw meat does not have a fridge life of more then a week or two. Giuliana, could you give me a list of websites and forums so I can make it up for my customers. I think that would help them learn more and I think you know more of these sights more then I. It will also help me more. What type of websites and forums? I have a ton. I have a list of whole prey, raw, and commercial raw providors. I have a list of links to ferret-specific info on natural feeding. I have a list of links to info on natural feeding for dogs and cats. I have a list of books and forums for natural feeding dogs and cats. I have a list of forums for ferrets (there is only 1 other forum for natural feeding ferrets, NaturalFerrets). I've got tons of lists, just tell me what you want and I probably have it lol. Another Question, are some of the raw meats with produce in them OK to give ferrets?? Like Alfalfa, greens, ect.See this post: holisticferret.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=raw&action=display&thread=344&page=1And Skunkers! on them eating the food They are doing wonderfully.

Yes it is a raw commercial raw product (Primal). I was just wondering when I defrost a portion of it in the refrigerator, how long can it stay in there till it has to be thrown away? So I guessed you answered my question, a week or two. I just need a list of info that I can give new ferret owners. Some forums, some info on raw feeding, other foods (what to eat and what not to eat) ferret care and health concerns. And some online stores for good ferret products, just the basic info you would give a new ferret owner. Thanks again, Skunkers is still eating good and Thomas still gets better everyday. I have also been adding less duk soup and today I did not add Furo Tone. And they still ate it.

When I mix up a "batch" of NV for my ferrets, essentially the same thing as Primal, I only mix enough for like 4 days. There are days when they don't eat much of anything in comparison to what they had the day before. So I would suggest not making so much that it would last longer than 5-7 days. Its better "fresher".

It was supposed to open August 20th, but I got a bit behind on production, so its set to open next month (Septmeber). Once I get the URL for the site you are more then welcome to hand it out to people, you can also print off whatever forms/lists/charts/pages you want from the website (once it opens) as long as Holistic Ferret is given credit Until the site opens, just send anyone interested in natural ferret diets to: holisticferret.proboards80.comwww.NaturalFerrets.com (the only other natural feeding ferret forum out there) Between the two of us (the forums) we should be able to help them out until the informative HF website opens.

I feed them the raw meat mixture for the second time tonight and Skunkers did not touch it at all tonight. Does that mean he could be full from eating the kibble that is in the cage? Or is he just not in the mood for it tonight? Does this happen? So should I be feeding them a dish full of meat two to three times a day??

Most likely. However, you can't just take the kibble out because skunkers is insulimomic.
Or is he just not in the mood for it tonight?
Possibly
Does this happen?
Yes. Oftentimes when switching to raw ferrets get bored eating the same thing each day. Once you start to offer them variety beyond their daily kibble, they start to want variety with their raw. A good idea might be to offer him so raw of a different protein and see if he takes to that.
So should I be feeding them a dish full of meat two to three times a day??
You can if you'd like. You can choose to feed 2-3 times a day or you can free feed. I generally dont recommend free feeding unless you are feeding whole prey or whole raw foods (which dont spoil as quickly as ground/chopped/minced raw foods.

Today I went to the food store and got a mixture of chicken hearts and gizzards. I cut them up a bit and mixed them with Duk Soup and Furo Tone. Skunkers gave it a go and ate some of it, and like I thought , he took pieces of it all over the place. Thomas still will not try it. That meat seems tougher, should I put it in the blender or cut it up smaller?? Or is there a trick to get them to eat this??

Just cut it up smaller Or you can play "tug of war" with thomas to try and get him to sink his teeth into it.

How are the boys doing with the diet? Any progress? They are still eating it. But only when there is duk soup and or Furo tone in it. And Skunkers is still kinda iffy about it more then Thomas at times. Thomas seems to be doing better at it now. Tomorrow I am going to throw some gizzards in the blender with some egg shells and duck soup and see how that works. And may be some raw chicken in there to. Does that sound like a good recipe?

I meant to ask are they eating soup with chunks in it? If so, how big are the chunks and are both boys eating them?
