Nada....nothing is going on. They still go on random hunger strikes...some are not touching beef...some not the chicken. Between the ferrets and my kids no one eats what I want when I want where I want.

I feel your pain I feel your pain, the cat is striking against her food, the dogs are mad because they have not gotton canned food in a few days(they push all of the dry food out of their bowl looking for it) the ferrets that i am switching decided last night that they no longer want to switch and mine are being little ba****ds and b***hs. My kids also have been rebelling against anything that is good for them. So what i am trying to say is that you are not alone

Well, all is better today. Everyone (except Whisp) is eating chicken, or soupie, or beef. Whisp got me concerned two nights ago. She felt really thin, and looked lethargic. She is my white ferret, and she always has had a paler nose and gum line, but for whatever reason it looked so much worse the other night. I weighed her and she is only lost an ounce, but she feels bonier than before. So, I have been feeding her her duk soup mixture again. I think I am going to have to face the fact that she may not completely switch over. She seems very fragile to me, and needs (wants) extra attention all the time.

Whisp will not be continuing on with the switch. I will be making her comfortable and allowing her to eat the foods she likes (which includes soupie) for her final days with us.

She was diagnosed with cancer tonight. She will be on pred...I chose that option over transfusions and more painful tests. The cancer isn't in any major organs. They think in the bone. She is anemic (I guess I need to blend some liver for her???). They are giving her 3 months.

Jacyee, I posted this in the medical section but get her onto a raw beef soup, daily. The iron in the beef can help to boost the iron in the body, and unlike liver, it can be fed daily. Because she is in her last few months its totally okay to spoil her a bit. De is 8 years old and probably wont live another year, so I give her a little warmed heavy whipping cream every now and then. She likes when I feed it to her via feeding syringe (like a little bottle). Maybe Whisp would like that?

Thanks for the information. I have my shopping list in hand....but the winds from Ike are keeping us in. My husband made it into town, but almost got hit by tree limbs, metal siding, and another car trying to avoid debris. He had to come back home until the winds die down. I feel such an urgent need to get her the beef...but my hands are tied at the moment...I am so frustrated.

I can totally understand you be frustrated. I would be too. I am so sorry about Whisp. But I know that you have done and will keep doing all you can for her.
How are the rest of the gang doing???

Sorry it has been a couple of days. I am glad to see I wasn't removed yet from the forum. We lost phone, cable and internet for quite a while, and it just came back on today. Whisp isn't doing well at all. She has lost two more ounces, and doesn't seem to be very interested in eating anymore. I have made the mixture of beef (steak) and duk soup which she ate very well yesterday. Today she just isn't interested. I would be very surprised if she made it another week at this rate.
I will be honest with you...and this is going to sound horrible. But with all the troubles with Whisp I have mostly been focused on her. The others are currently enjoying their chicken and soupie, but I haven't offered different meats at the moment. I am not saying that I am ignoring the others, but my priorities have been Whisp...and will be for a little while longer.

Sorry it has been a couple of days. I am glad to see I wasn't removed yet from the forum. Nah, we wouldnt do that. We know you've got alot going on right now. The only time we delete threads is when someone just disappears out of no where, with no explaination, and then won't return our PMs or emails Also, don't feel bad for focusing on Whisp right now. YOu obviously aren't neglecting the others, so its okay to put a little more attention on her. She certainly needs it.

It does not sound horrible. You are a great ferret mommy and there is nothing wrong with giving Whisp a bit more attention right now. As much as we want to give everyone the same amount of love and attetnion at all times its not possible. We love them all the same but in different ways. I am sorry to hear that she has lost more weight. Take your time and the rest of them will be no worse for the wear so to speak.

Nothing much new to report here. They will eat some of the steak I got for Whisp, and their chicken...so that much is good.
