Oh, they sneak stuff like the soupie, but for the most part it is the chunky whole stuff. It is funny. Jetta is my youngest, and she switched to raw at 9 weeks. She probably wouldn't eat a piece of kibble if it was the last piece of food in the house. She has come across a wayward piece, and she would just look at me like "ick...you eat this stuff?" and then she would wander off in the opposite direction.

a.) Do you understand that by starting this thread you commit to posting updates on the progress of your ferret(s) diet switch atleast every other day?**
Yes
b.) Do you understand that if you will be away from your computer for an extended period of time you will need to exchange phone numbers (or email addresses if you don't feel comfortable exchanging numbers) via private message with your assigned mentor, so that we can monitor your progress and ensure your ferret's saftey during the switch? (Please post below letting us know that you and your mentor have exchanged phone numbers or emails)
I agree, and think I have switched numbers way back when, but probably need to re do so just to be sure.
c.) Do you understand that any threads that have not been updated in for more then a week (with no explaination as to why you are absent) will result in the deletion of the thread?***
Yes
**Note 1: If you are unable to make it to a computer (such as on weekends) please indicate below so we know whether you just dont have computer access or if you have gone MIA.
***Note 2: If you would like to try the switch again and you are committed to making regular updates you ARE welcome to restart your thread. Failure to provide regular updates will result in the deletion of your thread.

Its okay if they sneak soupie now and then When you say they eat chicken, what part do they eat? Do you switch it up between say: thighs, wings, legs, etc? I'm just trying to get a feel for where you are at. From the SOUND of it, it seems that you are just 1 weekly organ meal and 1 more type of meat away from being fully switched!

Sneaking good stuff is ok, its the bad stuff we dont want them sneaking. I have a few that look at kibble like it is pure ickyness too. Its funny to watch them when they find it. I am so happy how well you are all doing. And you are almost completly there. Good job

My gang eats chicken thighs, legs, wings livers and hearts and gizzardie stuff that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole! I need to get some pork, and then I'll let you know.
I may be taking a few days leave from here to cope with my losing Whisp.

Ok. So, back on track.
Everyone is chowing down on their chicken today (boney meat), and I am going to be thawing out their organ meat, and some of the remaining steak. Sunday is organ meat day. I still have to grind it up with other meat to get them to eat it. They won't take it straight. Is that a problem?
I still give them mixture of soupie in the cage to make sure they are getting what they need nutrient wise. I have to go to wallyworld today...I am going to pick up some pork. I am ready to try to remove my training wheels and graduate...soon hopefully.

So, today is the first day I have gotten back on track with monitoring my guys and their eating habits (or lack there of) I think I had a minor set back. I was relying heavily on soupie over the past week for Whisp, and some of mine decided they wanted more of the "baby" treatment too. In any case, the new batch I made today has absolutely no kibble in it at all. I also played tug of war with the streak with Mooch, Jetta, and Sassy, and they seemed to enjoy it. Especially when a piece would get pulled off in the process and they would run off happily with their new prize. Mooch, too, took a huge piece and paraded proudly across my bedroom...head held high...meat swaying in the wind. I have pork in my posession....but I am going to make sure for sure that the steak is going well first.

Nothing new to report today. Except....I think one of my guys have hidden a little treat for me somewhere. Tonight I get to play a game of "reek and find"

Nothing new. Still wondering about the okayness of blending the liver/organ meat with other meat during organ day. They won't eat it otherwise.

Blending the organ to get them to eat it is a-okay Just blend it up right before you serve it. Blending/grinding can reduce some nutrients, but if you do it right before you serve you should be just fine.

Unless the organs are in a mouse mine need theirs blended up too. Like Giuli said I do not see a problem with blending it up.

Everything is going well today. I still need to blend the beef and chicken together for some who won't eat whole steak, but the good news is....no kibble. Everyone seems to be maintaining or gaining weight, so I am relieved. I always become a bit over protective with my group after one becomes ill.
