Well I mean I'm moving and I just can't take you with me. I know you're 8 years old and bonded to me but I just cant keep you anymore I hate when i see people do this to animals that have been with them forever. I know Giuli was making a joke but on our CL there was a family that was moving and in the post they said that their 14 year old cat had to be rehomed within two days or they were taking it to the spca that made me soo mad Ok back on subject I am soooo happy to hear that!!! See way back when i told you that they would all switch over. It just takes some time and you cant rush them they do it on their own time

Well, nothing much new to report today. Whisp still doesnt eat strait raw, but does eat soupie. Jax, however, was busy chewing down bone and all when I got home today.

I made a new batch of soupie last night with organ meat and thigh meat. My soupie eaters are enjoying this meal quite well. (of course, by soupie eaters, I mean whisp. everyone else is eatilng meat on the bone). Jax was waiting for me when I got home. Her feeding den was empty, so she looked at me with those inquisitive eyes like "where's my food???" My husband is having a hard time with the new schedule. I am at work all day long, and so I have written out a schedule for him, consisting of a noon sweep through the ferret room for cleaning and feeding. He doesn't do the cleaning, and sometimes only feeds minimally. I have just about given up on him!

Mine only get feed twice a day so once they are on meat and bone like most of yours are then they should be good with twice a day feedings you might just have to feed a little more each time

I just make sure that i give them enough food for that meal and to stash so they can eat durring the day. It will take you a few days to figure out how much to give but its easy. Just remember they eat less one season then the other.

Do they eat more in the winter typically? It is good to know that...I panic so easily with my babies! Ok. So I have gone and done something completely crazy this week. No, I didn't add more ferrets to my buisness, but I did add two yorkies. No worries, though. I keep the ferrets and yorkies away from eachother. The kicker is...I was looking for what kind of food to feed them because I am sure the same rules apply like with ferrets. And in the midst of all my research, I found one yorkie eating some of the raw food (soupie mix) that I prepare for my ferrets. Seems like my dogs may be switching over too, now...unexpectedly! We'll see how this all goes!

Now why would you go and do that??
I know i have 3 dogs and cat in my mix too.
I know nothing about dogs and raw, two of the dogs are not really mine but my stepsons and he does not want them on raw sooo my dog is not on raw either.
Congrats on your new ones
As for the ferrets, yes mine do eat more in the winter and less in the summer. So watch them as the weather changes and if they are looking for more food that is their way of telling you that they are eating more.

Seems like my dogs may be switching over too, now...unexpectedly! We'll see how this all goes! Congrats on the new additions! I highly recommend putting all dogs/cats/ferrets onto raw, but when it comes to dogs, I ESPECIALLY stress the importance of raw feeding small dogs. Yorkies especially are very prone to dental issues and a raw diet will go a LONG way towards keeping their teeth clean. They are similar in size to a ferret, so they would eat the sametypes of food: chicken wings/thighs/legs, beef chunks, etc. I HIGHLY recommend going to dogster.com and checking out their raw forum. IMO its the best raw dog feeding forum on the net: www.dogster.com/forums/Raw_Food_DietThey even have a nifty spreadsheet for calculating how to feed your dogs (NOTE: This is NOT to be used for ferrets and cats, they have different daily caloric needs then dogs ) Here is a list of all their useful links (the spreadsheet is in here) www.dogster.com/forums/Raw_Food_Diet/thread/431875

I am so sorry it is taking me so long to write back. I must be frustrating, but there is always one special case in the class....right? Work is consuming me this week, and I am needing the weekend badly. I put beef tips in the cage this week, and they were gone when I came back from work, so my guess is someone ate them, or they absorbed into my carpet. I think, probably, it is more likely the ferrets ate them. I couldn't tell you who, though. I am at work for 10 or 11 hours (if you count my drive into the time) each day. So, some of my ferrets are on bone/chicken/beef at the moment. This is really all that is new at the moment. I will try to be more timely in my responses!

That would be to funny if you came home and the carpet asked you for more meat I am not to worried about you not checking in every day, you are doing well and unless you missed telling me something all but one of yours are basicaly there. I can understand your long days once upon a time i was working hours like that too. Just say hi every other day or so and i wont send a note home for your mom to sign
