I cut up tiny pieces of raw chicken breast and mixed in some crushed kibble. They both sniffed. Will leave in cage for a while. I think Nikko will eat the chicken...he seemed very interested until Yuki attacked him! They are eating moistened evo cat/kitten kibble instead of that horrid Marshall stuff. They switched kibble very easy so I really don't see a problem with switching them to raw except that the texture is different. I'll keep you posted!

I hope everything goes well....not too well though. You wouldn't want me to get my shovel and pitchfork, would you? No, but really, good luck to you! I bet they'll be eating raw well by the end of next week!

As many of you know my kit, Chaos, died of a reaction to promectin injection given for his ear mites. Part of the reaction to this med is refusal to eat. I was switching him to raw at the same time and he was being stubborn so I tried the fast. Anyway to make a long story shorter, he never ate on his own again...I had to force feed him. But we have determined that this was because of the promectin reaction NOT the raw switch. Well, because of what we went through with Chaos, I am emotionally unable to fast my new babies, Yuki and Nikko...it just freaked me out!! So we have decided to do the slow switch...starting with soupie. I will need help because I'm this is a new way for me .... again! Off to make that soup!

Also, Jennifer, I am very interested in how you switched and kept kibble, too. We travel some and it would be easier if my (ferret sitters ) could just feed kibble or dried raw.

I just read through "Toby's Raw Diet" mentor program and I think I'll try following the recommendations there with Wysong Archetypal I, Pingford's Porridge, and raw soupie...introducing one at a time in this order.
First, I'll at Wysong Archetypal I in their evo kibble. They like their kibble moist, so I'll just keep it that way.
Then Pingford's Porridge to get them used to this in case of illness, etc.
Then to raw soupie.
Raw meaty bones.
Raw.
What do you think?

Since I have to order the Wysong Archetypal I and wait for it, and, being the type person that just can't wait.... I put raw chicken breast and kibble in food processor and completly ground it together and gave it to the kits and ...... drum rolll........ THEY ATE IT!!!! DOOK DOOK ... HAPPY DANCE.... DOOK DOOK!!! ummm...now what?

Well, if they are eating it in that form, maybe the next time you make it, try less kibble and more chicken. This is what I am having to do with mine. And...mine are finally eating it. I had to start mine out with soupier stuff than that...so it is like you have skipped several steps already. After they are eating mostly chicken, start adding bigger pieces...kibble sized at first, and work up from there. I have even added a little liver (only once per week though) and my guys love it. If you need any help, just ask. I am going through this too. We can go together!!!

Thanks Jaycee. I have been following along with your bunch. Read it every day. You have really had your hand full!!! I read here that it is easier to switch the young ones. So I thought Nikko's only 9 weeks maybe he'll eat it and Yuki will because he does. Actually, it was the opposite. Yuki took the first bite (after much time trying to ignore it ) then Nikko. But Yuki only ate a few bites and Nikko didn't come up for air until it was gone!!! I hope to get them used to a variety of foods, dry, raw, bones, whole prey.

This is excellent! Do exactly what Jaycee said, she gave you a perfect answer (go Jaycee! I'm so proud!) and I'm proud of YOUR babies too, Trina! Great pics! Mind if I add them to the HF photo gallery? holisticferret.myphotoalbum.com/albums.php
