I need to lose quite a bit of weight. I'm an oompa loompa. Went on a 2 mile walk the other day. I didn't feel like I was going to die, it was great BUT my legs hurt real bad because of it Yesterday (probably the HUGE incline I had to go up).
Why can't weight loss be magic.. You know. Snap your fingers and your where your supposed to be. I mostly dislike my stomache.
I don't have any lovely exercise gear. Not a weight or anything...

I've studied human nutrition (as well as animal nutrition) and everything I've read has indicated that for long-term, healthy weight loss one shouldnt lose more then 1-2 pounds per week. People who are extremely overweight might lose a little more then this during the inital stages of weight loss, but overall you want the loss to be slow and steady. Gradual weight loss (or gain) is permanant weight loss (or gain). Its best to lose weight slowly because you wont stress out your organs.

also the key to keeping weight off isnt a DIET its a lifestyle change because if you lose 100 pounds but as soon as its off go back to eating the way you were what happens? you gain it all back. You cant just diet you have to be willing to change your eating habits permanently this doesnt mean giving up every junk food ever made forever that would test a saint but but the key is moderation. that and healthy exersise to keep your weight balanced you have to burn the calories you eat away.

the key to keeping weight off isn't a DIET its a lifestyle change Copy that! My problem of late is just going to the gym. I think I am eating fairly healthy, more so than before. Which is weird because my diet consisted mostly of pasta, fruits, veggies, and its just in the past 3 years that meat has really pushed its way in! So I always thought I was eating healthy, and I think I was. But since I no longer live at school, I'm not walking to classes, to parties, to lunch, to dinner, to work. I drive everywhere! Except the gym! LOL So now its the exercise part I am missing. But I will be starting back up this week now that a lot of stuff has calmed down!

Yay you! My father is a weight trainer so if you have questions about health just ask and dont eat too much pasta as it is actually not SOOPER healthy for you unless you eat a whole grain one.. and whole grain pasta just isnt as yummy as the starchy one =x my dad goes by oatmeal in the morning then small healthy snacks throught the day he stays away from a lot of fruit because fruit does have suga in it even if it is natural sugar so watch your fruit intake. and at dinner you need a protein a carb and 2 veggies. then NO POP. if everyone on the planet stopped drinking pop for a onth theyd all drop 10 to 15 pounds in that time period from the lack of calories alone because all pop is is empty calories and if you need to drink fruit juice try crystal light or dilute your juice i do half juice half water because fruit juice has ALOT of added sugar. I stick with 1/2% to 1 % milk skim is too watery and the 1/2% to 1% gives yo enough fat content to make you feel like you're still drinking real milk. Then atleast 64 oz of water a day. (you cna have milk diet pop and juices on top of that) Also with how much slat we eat we retain a LOT of waTER so if you cut your salt back (i cook with mrs dash it gives TONS of flavor with no salt) you'll lose that bloaty feeing around that time of the month =x (sorry guys) then walk. i walk a mile each day and i play with my fertS and chase the cats all over gods green earth. also in the summer months if im not sleeping eating or with beast i;m in the water. I cannot stay out of it i'm literally like a fish so i always trim down in the summer no matter what i eay because swimming is a full body workout with no impact and its also cardio swimming is THE perfect workout.

LOL good for you as well! You are full of knowledge! I love fruits and veggies! And I know how bad pasta is so when I don't eat the wheat, I don't cook it all the way so its still slightly crunchy, even though I hate that! I also try to remember to eat oatmeal every morning, the non-instant kind as well. I actually really like it, I was surprised when I bought it and it was good! For dinner I've been eating a Pasta Roni flavor and adding a bunch of veggies to it, usually peas, corn, carrots, and occasionally green beans. As of now, I have no meat in my house for me to eat, I need to go out and buy chicken to add to my pastas. I really like to eat that way, its good for the flavor, plus I have enough left over for lunch the next day. I try to eat berries every day, or at least 3 times a week, I know they are so good for you: blackberries, blueberries, stawberries, raspberries! Love them all! And then I normally end the day with some ice cream or chocolate. I know, not the best, but I need my fix, I'd rather eat a few now, then crunch on some all day! I also drink a whey protein mix every morning around 7am, I can't handle food for another 2 hours, it makes me queasy. But I love my 1 scoop strawberry whey powder and 7oz skim milk! I don't drink any pop. I'd say I drink pop once a month or less. I don't really care for it. Usually I buy diet Mtn Dew or Diet Coke w/Lime. But last time I just bought the Coca Cola regular, so I drink that even less! Its like a "treat" when I just need that extra stuff. I don't drink much juice. I tried drinking orange juice a few times a week, but I just couldn't. I'm going to get back into the habit of drinking 1 glass of milk for dinner too. I don't drink a lot of water, I know I should, but I have a small bladder! I don't add salt to anything, so I know I'm not retaining water from added salt, but I do like some Lean Cuisine meals, esp the ravioli ones, and those are loaded with sodium. I try not to eat those often though. I love Mrs Dash too, it is good to add to my pasta boxes. Here's a question for you, I love those little red potatoes, but I heard New Potatoes were best for you. Whats a New Potato? Is that a type or what? I used to work out on the elliptical 3-4 days a week for 30mins along with some weight training. I slacked on the weight training first. But I went out and bought 5lbs weights so I could do it at home in between my cardio days. I gotta get on that! I did it for 2 weeks and then I had surgery, then I got Kiwi, then Apple was sick, and now I'm just trying to catch up! We should each start our own fitness thread so we really could keep each other motivated and accountable!!

I'm not obese.. Just chunky. Its one of those things where your weight isn't life threatening but you know if you lost that weight you'd feel so much better.
Thankfully for me (which I'd forgotten about) my cable company has free all you can watch exersice videos. You can watch them over and over, pause them, rewind, fast forward.. Basically like exercise videos built into the TV. And their really good to. I like them alot.

I bought a Pilates DVD but got bored with it. I think I'm not pulling in my CORE correctly! LOL Typical!

Well thats good to know the "new" potatoes are the little red potatoes because thats exactly what I've been eating! I use Mrs Dash and olive oil and bake/broil them in my toaster oven after dicing them into chunks. I LOVE those guys.
Unfortunately, I was in my cabinets and there was this awful smell. You know it! MAGGOTS in my potatoes! I threw away 2 cans of tomato soup because maggots were on the label. I almost threw up.
Oh, and then I worked out last night for the first time in 1.5 months! Go me! 45 mins, 25mins on the elliptical, and 20mins on the reclining bike. I thought I was going to die. Then I ate Subway and felt better.
