Well I've been going and Im still only making it for 20 minutes trips BUT that is because I am really out of shape lol I FEEL alot better after going. i've been sleeping better and my pms cramps have diminished ALOT. ITs nice (I just hate being all hot and sweaty and then having to get into a hot car that DOESNT have AC So I try and cool off best I can in the gym before I hop in my car (so I dont get a heat stroke or something). I found a good workout to do on the tredmill from fittness.com and I really like it. I gradually increase the incline and then I get to a certain incline and drop it down to flat and start raising the incline again. All the while I am doing 30sec - 1 minute bursts of sprints or faster speeds, then taking 1-2 minutes to recover after those bursts. Let me tell you I can tell its WAY more effective then just running or walking for 20 minutes straight with no variation. Im actually having fun doing this! I cant believe it! Having to change something on the tredmill (the incline % or the speed) every 30sec-1minute really helps to keep my mind off of "when is this gunna be over?!?!) lol I dunno I like it. Once this workout isnt so challenging I am going to switch things up. Perhaps I will try the elliptical next?

The elliptical is actually better than the tredmill. Tredmill running is very harsh on your knees, where the eliptical is more gentle and forgiving on those joints. I think you actually get a better work out with the elliptical too! (this is coming from a therapist's perspective...I don't want to have to see you with a knee replacement at 40!!!!)

Yes, I have just recently heard the elliptical is better as well. Seeing as how I already have a bad knee, I am thinking the elliptical or bike might be a better way to go. Thanks Jaycee

I am a big fan of the elliptical. Although I am a few weeks behind going to the gym, I need to head back and start up my routine again. I started going back in February, and I was going 4-5 days a week, working 30mins on the elliptical, also doing the Precor leg machines.
This is a good plan, we could all post our updates here and maybe this will get me back into going more often! My latest routine is 20mins on the elliptical, starting at 3 crossramp and 2 resistance, then every 7mins or so I bump the resistance up. Then I switch over to the recumbent bike and work that for 15mins or so at 4 resistance. I also like to do the Variation Hills. Thats fun and good to help build my leg muscles which I lost after high school!
I've also started something called The Abs Diet. Its not really a "diet", I'm not starving myself, I can eat whatever I want! Its just about adding more protein and strength-training to my workout. So I lift weights 3 days a week. Today is Thursday, elliptical day! I bought myself 5lbs weights to help take off the excuses so I can do it at home and still let the fuzzies out. Anyway, you guys should check out this book, it also helps you decide what foods can really help you burn calories faster and build more muscle to tone yourself. I love the book! I'll add this in the "what I am reading" section and you can learn about it there. Maybe I will add excerpts if there's anything you are particularly wanting to know?

alternating sprints and walking is good for your stamina. I don't know about you but I don't really pay attention to how much water I drink in a day anymore vs when I was in texas and drinking water like it was going out of style. The better hydrated you are the easier it is for you to work out as you don't tire as quickly. Atleast that's how it is for me plus less risk of overheating your body. I keep trying to get myself back to where I was 7 months ago when I could run a mile and a half in 10-11 mins but it's hard.

I'm on a diet, the T-Lite diet. My aunt and uncle do it quite a bit, my cousin lost 15 pounds on it(in 3 days). In one day I lost 5 pounds, Today is my second day.
The site tells you to take the T-lite pills but I'm not, and my cousin didn't either. Best part is, no exorcise! But I will be starting back on walking the dogs again, it has been really hot lately but it's cooling down now.

Losing 15lbs in 3 days is extremely unhealthy! Any diet that says you don't need to exercise is lying. I'm betting that was mostly water weight that was lost, and it will eventually come back on. A
What does T-Lite stand for? I've never heard of that.
I'm not on a "diet" but I'm reading The Abs Diet for Women Workout, and that highlights the best foods to eat to make you healthiest plus exercise moves that are super beneficial. I started a thread about this book in the Good Reads section. You should check it out.

It doesn't say "you don't need exercise", it just doesn't say to or that you need to. I think it might partly be a detox diet but other then that your stomach feels like you've been doing a ton of crunches (the slight burning feeling). The food is really healthy though, grape fruit, green beans, yogert, cottage cheese, chedder cheese, cantalope, toast, chicken.. You really eat a lot on it. www.t-lite.net/dietplanfaq.html

Yeah it sounds more like a detox, which I think is scary. I bought this book, The Lazy Girl's Guide to a Fabulous Body (don't bother buying it) and it actually suggests you detox yourself for a whole weekend, without suggesting you should talk to a doctor first. The detox sounded gross to me. In fact, the whole book was a waste of money.
Here's the detox breakdown it suggests: drink at least 3.5 pints of water a day so you don't dehydrate cut out coffee and tea, alcohol, salt, sugar, dairy what to eat: learn meat and fish, fruit and green leafy veggies, wholegrain produce
Day 1 eat only veggies and fruits Day 2-3 same thing but brown rice to lunch or dinner Thats it. It says you'll get really tired, DUH you have no energy! There's no carbs for your body to burn, which means you're not burning much of anything, and you're storing any fat you might be finding because you're starving your body.
Did you know you're supposed to drink 40oz of water a day? And then add 8oz for every 10lbs you are overweight?! That is INSANE amounts of water! I would be peeing all day! Of course you could always get a colonic! :-o

Yeah, I'm not a fan of low carb-no carb diets. For a long time the majority of what people ate were grains, you've just got to know how to do it right. Whole grains only... They already say to drink 6 to 8 cups of water a day so that right there is 48+ ounces of water, thats what you should drink. I've never heard of the + 8oz thing though, is that to keep your fat hydrated or something

I have no idea what the extra water is for. My friend's doctor told her that. She's on a new low carb diet because she is pre-diabetic. And he said that about the water. Personally, I can't drink that much water, I used to try drinking a lot of green tea, but then I peed every 30mins or so.

I joined medical weightloss (een around 50+years in MI helping us lose weight WHOOHOO) And they told me to cleanse for 3 days. lost like.. 10 pounds the first 3 days but thats because they cut most of the salt put of my diet and i was drinking 64 oz of water a day BUT i bet some of the weight lost was waterweight but i've been on the diet a month and a half and am down 30 pounds its expensive (birthday present from mom FTW =D) but so worth it. i'm enjoying my lovely skinnier body whoohoo (yay skimpy bathingsuits =x) but the sad thing is my chest hasnt decreased ANY so i stil cant wear a bikini cause i cant find one that will cover my ... expansive chest. *sigh* poor me. =P

Besides, if its all water, it doesn't really matter. You need to exercise to burn up calories constantly. I doubt you'll lose any of your boobs either! Its funny, you're sighing about an expansive chest, and then theres other people who are like, "where are they?!"

I did the T-Lite more than a week ago. I lost 8 pounds and haven't gained anything back. You only eat around 935 calories a day!!!! I think that is part of the reason you lose weight so fast. I felt woozy the first night. Tuna repluses me now because I had to eat plain tuna. I think if I smell tuna again I could vomit now. You can eat chicken instead of tuna though.
I go through spurts. Sometimes I drink a gallon of water a day and sometimes I only drink a little bit. Water doesn't appeal to me usually but if I drink water with lemon juice in it I'm instantly inlove with it for that moment. We don't always have lemon juice though.

I'm eating one can of tuna in water (thats 2.5 servings per can) with crackers for lunch twice a week. A guy I work with lost 60lbs by eating tuna every day for lunch and then walking around our building for 20mins a day. And I'm sure he did more than that to lose all that weight.
But it got me thinking that with all those Omega 3s (which are supposed to help) and protein, it'd be good to add to my diet. And then I also eat oatmeal, not instant, every single morning (when I remember to pack it). That helps hold me over 9am-11am at least. Oatmeal takes longer for your body to break down so thats one reason its good.
I haven't really lost any weight, but thats because I've sorta dropped most of my exercise, but I do tandem bicycle every weekend with my boyfriend 20-35 miles each time. Once I start getting back into my elliptical (I hope to be good again next week) and my weights that I do at home, I expect my tummy to be looking flatter. My butt already looks great from doing the elliptical! LOL
