I have been giving her chicken sprinkled with kibble but when I introduced liver I gave it to her raw and she licked it all off. She won't eat the chicken like she does with the liver (not sure why) She still wants the kibble sprinkled on there. I don't put too much though because she does look for the chicken pieces now, just won't eat it without the sprinkles. I'll remember not to give her much of the liver as well.

So she likes the liver more then regular chicken?? I went through something like that with someone else I was mentoring, they ferret didn't like chicken.. Only red meat so for a while they had to marinate her chicken in beef drippings. I went through the sprinkles thing with Weezer, he was hooked on dehydrated food so he had that sprinkled over everthing... It took him a while but he is weaned off of it now.

No she does like the chicken but she wont eat it alone for now, thats all. I'm really trying to get her away from it but I don't think shes ready yet.
Also, I went to the vet today and she told me not to feed her raw and stick to the evo kibble. I'm obviously not going to stop because I see a MAJOR difference. Just today, i'v gotten compliments from people that Fern's coat is so soft and from other ferret owners there as well. What do you think about this?

Most vets are not taught proper dietary info.. You really can't take a vets advice about nutrition, it's like asking a plastic surgeon about nutrition.. They may know basic things about the human body but not enough to give nutritional advice.. I've even heard the theory that some vets recommend junk food because they realize that a natural diet will keep an animal out of the office and money out of their pockets. That may not be true but I would never tell anyone to switch from raw because of a vet saying it's bad.

Today Fern had chicken with some kibble. Her poop looks really unsual today, I think it's from the vet visit because of the shot. It's the first time i'v seen her in a while with seedy poop.
I was thinking of getting her some beef this afternoon but I just got a horrible cold so I'll probably do that this weekend. I'v also been trying to look for some good treats for her but they really lack a selection here. What kind of treats do you feed your guys? Could I maybe order it online?

The weird poop is from going to the vet, not only the shot but also the stress.
Are you in the US?? You can email the people that make PoGos at petextrastoo@yahoo.com and ask for samples. They are pure fish, mouse and rabbit treats.. My ferrets love them, I also give them some of what ever I'm having sometimes.. A tiny pinch of meat or a itty bitty piece of cheese (I mean it when I say bitty, like the size of a sewing needle). You could email Ziwipeak and ask for samples as well.. All of my pets love that stuff.

No I live in Canada, it's very hard to find a lot of treats. Do you think they will send samples to Canada?
As for Fern, she's doing fine. I'm slowly removing the kibble, i'd tried offering her just chicken but she still won't eat it and will only lick it. Do you ferrets get kind of down after visiting the vet? Today Fern wouldn't go outside the hallway (we live in a condo and I usually let her out of the hall way so we can smell new things) All she wants to do today was to be left alone.

You could always ask if thgey'd be willing to send the samples to you.
With time she will be able to eat kibble-less meat.. A lot of animals act depressed after getting shots, it is normal.. If it lasts a few more days then she should be checked out by the vet again.

Hello, I bought Fern some beef this weekend, you know the sliced up ones in the grocery store. I only bought the once with maybe 4 big slices at first. I been switching from chicken to beef this weekend. At first she didn't like the beef and just smelt it but now she will eat it but I have to make sure they are very tiny pieces or else she'll just lick it. Fern eats the chicken by itself now but not the beef yet. She loves it when they are in little pieces. One thing that she still does is runs away with the bigger chicken pieces! She will run under the bed and will eat it there, I made her a little den out of cardboard but she doesn't like eating in there. Tomorrow I am going to email the companies that you mentioned about treats. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I am very busy on weekend and trying to find a new place to move. My landlord has been giving me a hard time lately, hopefully I can get another ferret after the move as Fern sometimes seems to be a little lonely no matter how much attention she gets.

She will move up in size, just as she did with the chicken. Even though she's not taking larger pieces yet she will with time.
Your fine :-) You don't have to post everyday or anything.

Hello,
So I have been maintaining Fern's diet of chicken, beef, and liver. Unfortunately those companies don't ship samples to Canada but it's okay. She will only eat a little bit of chicken without the kibble but I still have to put some in to get her to try it. Also, I been giving her liver once a week and I have to encourage her to eat it or else she will just walk away. I have to give her some by spoon first because she'll just smell it and not try if I just leave it there.
I've been trying to look for a place to move still and no luck. I'v been searching for meaty treats so that she can get more use to it, if that makes sense. I'll keep trying but every time i look at the back of a cover the protein for most of these treats are so low! I' only seen one treat that's 60% and i'm trying to figure out what it's called.

Thank you so much, only one of them ships to Canada and it's www.onlynaturalpet.com but it's very helpful. To answer your question no it's not that. I only saw it once at a pet store that i rarely go to and ever since i been looking for it and can never find it. Today I bought Fern more chicken, I was looking to buy her beef just to get her use to it but all the beef that's in the grocery store I buy are marinated..and I bought one last time that I thought wasn't until I checked it and smelt it. I'm going to another store to find some that isn't tomorrow. By the way i'v seen Fern eat chicken without the kibble but sometimes she still looks for more kibble to be mixed into it. Oh, one more thing what is your favourite from www.onlynaturalpet.com? I'm looking to order it.

Oh, I gave you those links so you could contact the companies that make them :-)
I've used Halo Liv-a-littles before and liked them (they were on clearance for like ($2 at Kroger).. I'm not crazy about the company though because they advertize and try to use a famous person to premote it.
The whole life treats look good.

I'll also contact the companies. I'm going to try what you have suggested. I tried to order Liv-a-little from the only natural pet store and the shipping was Shipping: $33.45! I'll just keep looking for these brands, i'm pretty sure they have a place that ships here for cheap. They don't even have n-bones here and I have to order those through ebay. Anyways, I tried feeding Fern more chicken and also bought some beef. I tried putting only chicken inside her bowl and she just sniffed it so I had to add some kibble sprinkles. She'll only eat it if she can smell the kibble.
