Yes, you can go ahead and start putting the chicken in there. Meat can be left out for 24 hours but if you ever find any that was stashed longer ago then that don't worry about it.

Hello, So this morning before I went to work, I left Fern some chicken mixed with kibble of course. When I got home she ate most of it and only left a little bit. So now I know for sure that she will actually eat it without me having to spoon feed her.. that really good! Tonight I made the chicken chunks a little bigger just to see if she would eat it and she did! She still won't eat it without the kibble though, I tried. But it's certainly an improvement!

That's great!!!! You should be able to slowly wean her off of the kibble, I know with Weezer he started out on a "soup mix" containing Stella & Chewys, The Honest Kitchen and Ziwipeak.. We fed him that with a small amount of meat mixed in and slowly upped the meat and removed the soup mix. For a while he would eat large pieces of meat but only with a small amount of soup powder sprinkled over it, one day he just decided that he didn't need the powder anymore.

Hello, So yesterday I left more food in the morning for Fern and she ate it all. She's been going to the washroom less too. This morning I decided to up the meat and less Evo, she didn't mind it at all and ate it without a problem. This week I been giving her the same amount of meat but I think i'm going to up the amount starting today also, happy valentines day! p.s! I also forgot to ask you....i found these dog treats...they aren't stella and chewy's or something like that. I forgot the name but it says freeze dried chicken breast. I looked at the back and it says 70% protien. Do you think I should get it ? We don't have brands like Whole Life or Stella and Chewy's or anything like that in Canada, or at least they are hard to find.

Wow!!! She's reallllly progressing fast!!
As for the treats, where are they made?? I'm not against any other country or anything but I really recommend staying away from food products from overseas. Products from Canada or the US should be fine.

Yeah! I can't believe it...you know she switched faster on the diet than when I was trying to switch her from marshall's to evo. I'll try to find one the brand of those treats, I might go there today. Also another question, should I stick to just the chicken for now or is it ok to give her some beef as well for variety? The chicken ran out already and I'm just wondering since I know she likes chicken, (even though she won't eat it by itself) if I can start giving her beef too? One more thing, my friend said that she has chicken that is also expired, it will expire tomorrow. Do you think Fern can still eat it?

You can give her some beef now.
The chicken is fine as long as it doesn't smell bad, you have to freeze it asap. Just portion it out into enough for one or two days and freeze it then thaw as needed.

She wont eat the chicken is she k ows its bad right? I just dont want her to get sick.
Last night Fern finished her chicken breast so i have to buy more tonight. Shes gong to have to stick to kibble this mornng until i get more. Also im going to be making her a little den to eat, seems like she wants to eat the big chunks of chicken under the bed. I have some really big cardboard box and i read in the forum its good for her to have an eating place.

Yes, she won't eat the chicken if it is bad..
A feeding den is a good idea :-)
You could grab some liver when you go the the store, I think she's ready to try it.

Oh, I forgot to buy the liver and only saw this tonight. I'm going back to the store tomorrow though and buying her some. I'll tell you how it goes. I made a cardboard den to put in her cage today. Unfortunately she was already sleeping so we'll see if she likes it tomorrow.
A few things I noticed when I started feeding Fern was that her coat is getting thicker!!! I use to be able to see through her coat when I first got her (she was on marshall's) and now I can't see any pink at all..

Hello Hello, So I got some chicken liver for Fern yesterday and she ate some of it but shows no sign of wanting to eat more at all..unless I feed her. Just like what happened before the chicken. I gave her chicken tonight because the liver was still frozen but I will give her more liver tomorrow morning and report back. As for the chicken, she does seem to eat more of it when I am not around so I guess it's a good thing...i hope it's like that when the liver as well.

Today instead of putting the liver as a whole... i blended the whole thing! I didn't put much of it in though...I put a big spoon full and did not mix it. Guess what? She licked it all up! I'm very glad she's eating all of it. If all goes well i'm going to put the blended liver with the chicken soon.

I'm pretty sure I tried repling to this already... I think my post was eaten??
Most people would not think that the condition of a animal would change so quickly but raw really makes it happen :-)
It's so cool that she is taking to the liver so quickly!! Don't freak out though if her poops get nasty, liver is very rich and does take some adujsting to. You don't need to feed liver but once a week, starting out I did feed it every day though.. You've just got to be careful in the long run because too much over a long period of time can be bad.

This morning I prepared breakfast for Fern and consisted of blended liver (one spoon full) mixed with chicken and mash up kibble. I didn't put that much kibble in there today, if I had to guess, there would only be around 30 pieces of kibble or so.
Anyways, at first she was hesitant but it didn't take long enough for her to start eating..with a little help from me. I feed her using a spoon. After the first bite, she just dig in there and continued eating. I think I will only feed her liver for breakfast since too much is not good. When she does fully eat raw though, how many times should I be giving liver to her?

Hmm, have you been giving her kibble or was that the first time that you had in a while??
You only need to feed liver one time a week. You can feed it every day but only in small amounts. Say she eats a total of 1 pound each week, then she should get 1.5 ounces of liver per week.. It could be fed in one meal or split up and fed every day. 10% of her total food intake should be liver.
