Wow- hadn't realized FOUR days have past. My bad- thought it was more like two days. Every day I give one or two chicken (fatty/lean) chunks for breakfast and lunch. When he wakes up in the evening, I give a meaty bone (still only chicken) and it's usually gone by morning (only 1-2" left of dry middle of bone). I noticed (probably 3 days ago) Weasel's fur is growing in darker. I've only had him for about 4 months so I've never noticed his color change like this. Looking at his pics, he looks darker, less fuzzy (fur longer/straighter) than before. Wondered if this was age or seasonal? You can definitely feel his belly when when he finishes eating. He feels stockier. Gizzards were still frozen in fridge earlier, so we'll try those when he wakes up. When I got home today, Weasel's new harness was in the mail (awesome- will post pics)

yay great. Beast is almost 7 months and when t started gettng colder he ddnt fully blow his coat but he did shed a lttle and his fur is nolonger fuzzy but thick and straight and fluffy he looks so handsome and in the summer beast was a cross between a chocolate and a sable when fall rolled around all hs guard hairs changed from a chocolatey brown to pure black but hs undercoat is white as snow, his face mask also changed so that the fur just over hs eye mask between hs eyes now matches the white/cream color on his chin. so yeah colors mght change and since hes getting more USABLE protein in his diet as opposed to the plant/animal protein mix in kibbles since they cant digets plant matter you will notice a change in fur texture.

Wow, that's crazy but really interesting. I wonder if those little dark hairs are gonna be guard hairs or undercoat. They're still tiny so can't tell yet.

well most of the time the undercoat is lighter than the guard hairs unless you have a white one (REW, DEW). so f they are dark they might be guard hairs

Could be. There's a bunch of darker, "new baby fur" around his neck. His brown also stands out more now. I used to think the light brown was part of his undercoat, but now those hairs stand out like guard hairs. He ate two of the four gizzards I gave him for supper I split up all the organs into baggies (weekly amounts) and noticed that some of the livers are huge compared to others. Unless some are really stuck together or some fell apart..

Well, I gave him a big liver earlier- he just saw it again and is now eating it. He finished off that palm-full of gizzards earlier/last night. The pet store that closed weeks ago re-opened. They carry mice and rats so I can go pick up a pinkie or two in the next week or two. He play-fights (kills cat/feather toys, socks, scarves, feet! lol) rough enough that I know he could kill and eat it, but don't know if he has the instinct..

Well it took beast about 4 mice before he actually ATE what he killed (mice 5 & 6) you have to get him to get possessive over it and have him rip it because i tried cutting it open until he actually ripped it open himself he didnt actually eat the mice.

Wow, what kind was it that he killed? How much do pinkies move? he might want a hopper(?) then, or something that moves for him to go after. Weasel did finish off the big liver and chunk-o-chicken-meat before bed.

he had adults beause that was all i could get. pet stores in michigan are nuts they charge 3 dollars for a froen hopper and 2 dollars for an adult live mouse. so i went with adults and he killed them nicely just took im a bit before he'd eat them

cool. we might try one of those hoppers then. Maybe that would be more appealing to him. I think he is eating more. This morning I gave him a wing and he ate most of it.

I guess he was, wasn't he? Only a tiny bit stubborn when trying new foods. We're still on chicken parts only but he'll eat the gizzards and liver too now. Went to pet store yesterday but they were closed. So I guess I'll buy more meat and trying to buy a mouse during the week.

Have you tried giving him something different? like maybe some beef? or pork? possibly even something like a cornish game hen, which is very like chicken, how abtu some duck or turkey? I know he may seem stubborn but what some people do is take away their food for a little bit (make sure he hasnt eaten right before this or this experiment will be slightly futile) a few hours at the most then plop something down that isnt... GASP chicken. then wait, he might eat it he might not iif he hasnt eaten anything in 6-8 hours i'd just give him chicken.

Ok. It'll probably be beef or pork then. Haven't seen the cornish game hen or duck yet at the grocery store or walmart yet. Not gonna buy a WHOLE turkey for him but if I can find something for $10 or less I'll get it.
