"without too much trouble".. sounds nothing like Weasel. LOL. j/k He does seem to be doing well with the switch. When he's hungry he'll really chow down. I'll give him leg bones for the next couple of days so he can get used to them. He'll still drag food from his cage to his box; I still feel like I can't leave him without food, after hearing all the time when he ate kibble "always have food available", especially when I'm at school/work for 3-4 hrs+. Or if he goes in his cage to eat and I lock it behind him, he'll eat a little then go to sleep. Whenever I open the door so he can get out, he'll wake back up and eat more... I have issues with leaving him without food and/or leaving him locked in his cage so there's not raw food drug all around.. hmm.. maybe I could take one of those big rubbermaid containers, cut a whole on one side for him to go in-and-out and leave his food in there. That would be better than his cardboard box (easier to clean/more sanitary) but if he didn't like it I'd have to try something else..

If you want to feed him in the cage, then the rubermaid tub would certainly be a good idea I think he'd really like that, and it would be alot more sanitary then the cardboard. Carboard works in a pinch, but long term I think something a little more sturdy/easy to clean is better.

i dont leave food available to beast 24/7. he gets food for about an hour in he morning then it goes back int the fridge. he gets fed around midday for half an hour because they eat more at dusk and dawn. then when it starts getting dark i give him food for two hours. so he gets a total of 3 1/2 hours of eating time and any meat he doesnt eat doesnt go bad. it stretches my dollar farther and beasty is almost 4 pounds =P

Ok. I need to try that. That sounds good and doable. Bought some chicken livers and gizzards today and Weasel ate the smaller "knob" off of a chicken leg bone.

w00t. dont give weasel liver every day giuliana recommends one a week i think.. because they are s high in vit. a. youd have to feed a bunch every day to gt a vit a. overload but i'd listen to giuli. beast gets one once in a whilefor the vit a. and he gets pork for its taurine/

We tried the liver. I gave him too much and had to throw it out later. I tried to pour a little from the cup it came in and it filled his bowl like soup. Later I saw he drug a couple of pieces out of his bowl, but he definitely likes the meat and bones better. I think he'll like the gizzards more since they're more meat-like (also, their already cut up) I cut his chicken into med-size pieces and put them in a tupperware and stick in the fridge; then the rest goes in freezer, rotating different kinds (legs, wings, thighs). Is it ok to put liver and gizzards in the same container for a few days or should organs be in a separate baggie? We still haven't tried any non-chicken meats.. so can he have any kind of raw beef or pork? He eats most of the leg bone now.

no you should have two organ days a week. but only ONE liver per week. you can offer RMB all week long if he likes them (keeps the liver from turning his poopie loose and tarry since the liver is one big blood bag) i feed gizzards on organ day because even though they are not organs they are kinda counted as one same with hearts its realy a muscle but its counted towards organs. but since i cant get heart unless i guy a WHOLEbird for beast to get the taurine he needs i feed him pork tenderloin. its about 2 dollars a pound.

Guess I can add a new kind of meat now. He eats all of the chicken pretty good. Every morning I give him a chunk or two of fatty/lean meat before school. At lunch I'll give him a meaty bone. I'll take it away when he goes to sleep and I'll give it back to him when he wakes up at night. He always finishes the meaty chunks when I leave in mornings, so now I'll give him two instead of one. I try to match his eating times to ours' (if he's awake), so I don't leave his food out too long. He hasn't tried the gizzards yet. Today I separate and thaw his meat again. I think this time I'll split his week's worth of food and thaw half at a time. Last week I cut the meaty chunks from the legs and alternated feeding meat and bones. This week, I'll probably cut a leg, wing, thigh and add some gizzards and a liver- divide this into two and keep half frozen for later in the week.
