Well, yesterday we got him a small hopper mouse. He killed it pretty quick and chewed on it for a bit, but didn't eat any of it (I even waved it around in front of him, like a toy). After looking at me like "mommy, can I come out (of the tub) yet?", I let him out and we went outside to dig. I later cut the tiny mouse in half and made a soup of equal parts mouse, chicken and water with kibble. He ate it all but the mouse so this morning I gave him a whole chicken leg (he ate the bone "knob" off).

it took beasty four mice and he finally ate the 5th-8th. You gotta get him right after he kills it and have him tug on it and get the taste of it in his mouth before he goes OH! its food too!

This morning I gave him soup with chicken, kibble and the other half of the little mouse- he ate it all but the mouse. Guess I'll have to get a blender if I'm gonna sneak in some mouse for him (too squeemish to cut into tiny pieces like the raw chicken- it was ALIVE a few minutes before I cut it in half).. We might wait a while before trying that again. BTW, I've never TOUCHED a mouse before this dead one trying to tease Weasel with it. The crazy things we do for fuzzy love. hehe.
Going to grocery store later, so I'll try to pick up some beef; guess it doesn't matter what kind?

Ok. Back from grocery store and got him boneless pork and cornish game hen (looks like a ferret-sized chicken, lol). He went straight for the pork. Instantly ate half of what I gave him. Guess I'll cut up the game hen in the next few days.

His darker fur is still growing in, and his guard hairs/most of his fur is straight and slick now, not fuzzy and kit-like unless he just gets a bath. His fur is much smoother now, like a short-haired cat.

Weasel's growing into such a handsome boy. I guess ferrets are kind of like cats then? All fuzzy at first until their adult coats grow in? Weasel's my first so I've never experienced this. He tore into the CGH leg this evening. Thought he was gonna eat it all- lol! I gotta say I think raw is cheaper than good kibble too. I've probably spent under $30 total so far since we've started the switch. Weasel always has more than he can eat and about 1/4 of our freezer is full of raw meat for him.

We've been eating cornish game hen and boneless pork since last update- he's eating good. Served 3x a day; he'll usually eat it all besides centers of bones if left out a few hours. Ugh... yesterday I pulled my laptop charger cord right from out from the adapter box . Getting up too fast, forgetting there wasn't much leeway with the cord. So I'll be on Tues-Thru in class but don't know what else. On bf's pc now- I'll keep you posted. We have lots of chicken, another cgh, and more pork to feed for a couple of weeks unless I go get some beef. I need to buy a new charger

I "rigged" the laptop power cord- whoohoo- it works! LOL.
Weasel's still eating his pork, finished off one of the cornish game hens.
Raw foods Weasel has eaten: *chicken (legs, wings, thighs, gizzards, and liver) *cornish game hen (whole, cut into serving sizes) *pork (boneless chops)
Everything is cut into about serving sizes, so he gets 1-2 chunks of meat or one meaty bone per serving.
Does it matter if I cut through bones when cutting his chicken and cgh? I don't know how to "properly" cut chicken- I try to break and cut on joints, but sometimes can't find a weak spot (like with the cgh), so I just cut by parts. I'm using Cutco shears, so they cut pretty cleanly through anything.
