Pork bones are a little on the dense side how did they do on them? I know beast LOVED his beef neck meat but didnt eat the bone much just gnawed on it like it was a jaw breaker

Yeah, the bone is really thick like beef necks, just slightly smaller. They ate most of the meat off. Unlike lamb and chicken- then there's only a tiny little bone left.
It took them a couple of days to finish off their chicken drumsticks and today I gave them another pork neck and chicken meat.

do you make sure they get organs regularly?

They usually get organs when I cut a whole bird or mouse up or other times I'd cut a liver and mix with raw egg and cut meat chunks.
They probably get organs at least every other week, but yeah.. I guess that's not enough.

Once a week is ideal How are things coming along, Jen (sorry, I don't have time to read through all 13 pages of your thread ) Are your kiddos eating meat/bone/organ yet? If so, why don't you post a feeding schedule and we can see how close you are to graduating. You've been doing a great job mentoring charmantpapillon.

Hey girlies,
Sorry for such slow reply.. was out of town over weekend and school/work/kiddo tie me down a lot.
I always start writing out what they eat, but never finish out the week.
Guili, yes both boys eat meat/bones/organs pretty good. Their only issue is live prey- they kill mice and rats quickly, but won't eat them unless I make a soup with it for them.
This week is a broke (no $$) week... so they aren't eating as good of food as I'd prefer.. They RARELY eat kibble anymore (only when there is NO real meat for them), although we did get some ZiwiPeak samples and they like those as treats.
Sat/Sun: chicken gizzards and pork neck Mon: chicken liver and pork neck Tues: kibble (ran out of fresh meat) with ZiwiPeak and spiral ham meaty bone Wed: pork neck (RMB) Thur: beef ribs (RMB) Fri: beef ribs Sat: chicken backpiece and pork neck (rmb)
Most weeks they get 2-3 different kinds of meat (with and without bones), such as a whole chicken, bone-in pork, beef, lamb, or cornish game hen (depends what the store is carrying and what's on sale). They get live prey every 2-3 weeks (first mice, have now moved on to medium-size rats), which they kill then I cut and make a soup by mixing in meat chunks (chicken, pork, or beef) and an egg.

looks pretty good to me. keep up the hard work mama bear.i got 12 pounds of chicken the other day for 59 cents a pound at Kroger. i buy my meat at Kroger rather than Walmart. its cheaper. i got a whole 6 pound chicken for 4 dollars. it was good eatin. i dont think kroger is in texas though! i wish they were everywhere! I can spend 20 - 30 dollars and feed him for over a month. i usually buy his meat and Ours at the same time and split his up into individ meals i can throw in his bowl frozen since everything got busy round here lately. and ours i split up into what feeds the family @ a meal. learned how to stretch 5 dollars to buy 10 dollars worth of food.=x

LOL. Chicken is always cheapest, but I try to alternate meats.. Beef and pork cost more.. yesterday I got beef cross-cut ribs for $4 (not sure how much- about a week's worth). They have Kroger in Dallas (about an hour away). We have HEB grocery here (since we're further south). I finally got a working rat trap for the nasties in the attic. It works good, already killed 4 but I won't feed those nasties to my boys.. Maybe I'll consider raising a mouse or rat farm but I'm sure Weasel would get to it. While Slinky has a killer predator instinct, Weasel has a climber instinct (climbs on top of his cage, my dresser/chest/bookshelf, and the top of the curtains)... How's Beastie?? Give him cuddles for me

Beasty is good and you can feed the rats in your home to them just freeze em first to kill the parasites tey COULD carry. Ask Giuli how long she would freeze them for

Ham = not very healthy because of the curing process t goes through. I'm sure a little as a treat wouldnt harm them but in the future try to avoid anything that is heavily salted
