We are going out of town for about 24 hours tonight so i am going to leave out some chilled food and some semi frozen food. i've found that these picky butts will not eat 9nearly as much) unless it is cold and fresh When i get home I will spend a little time with all of them, bath the hedgehog (new addition as of Tuseday), feed them and head out. I should be back tomorrow around the same time that i am leaving tonight so I know they should be fine.

I felt horrible because I had to pen them up while I was gone and worried the whole time. I left them the same amount of food that I had given them the previous day. When I got home, they all acted starved and mate 2-3x more than they would in a normal serving so I'm thinking they ate all of the food at once since I wasn't giving them "potions" throughout the day. They were all extremely lovable and excited to see me I noticed that Mayhem's belly felt like it was getting bigger I'm so glad we got her back on the soup! I have enough to feed today and part of tomorrow so I'm going to make some more tomorrow. I will only add egg yolk and shell, no whites, and add some dark meat along with the breast meat and organs.

Looks good to me. Don't be afraid to add the white to that egg yolk. It's balances out if you add both, the problem arises if you add only the white. Really ciao

I think she's avoiding adding the white only because it will be going into soup that will be fed daily Atleast that's my understanding.

For now soup is the oly way I can get organs into them so its daily soup for a while and someone told me the biotin in egg white was bad if fed daily.

Ahhhh but not to be argumentative, you can feed it that way Little Mischief was fed raw egg for 18 months with no ill effect. Again biotin does not degrade as long as it has the egg yolk to bind to. Now if you want to eat the egg whites that's your option, or if you want to feed 1 full egg and a couple of yolks because you don't eat them that's cool too. The thing is not to worry that much over that little bit. We had a really good discussion on a raw feeding list that I'm on about just this. It was decided when all the documentation was pulled..and there was almost 2 weeks of documentaion, that for the most part animals that would eat eggs...polecats would fall into this catagory that there would be a time (seasonal) where they would probably eat a lot of eggs, but being the glutonous little weasels they are, they would eat the egg whites too and not bother to separate them . I believe that all things being equal that for the length of time that you will be feeding the soupy mix that it will not cause any problems, you may want to up your egg shell amount just a little bit to offset the damage that might be caused by the egg white, you can. I do know that egg eating creatures, eat some of the shell but not all of it Anyway, the long and the short of it, do what your comfortable with I will check in with you a little later ciao

I don't know if it was being away for 24 hours or what but I've noticed some good changes in the business last night. May has become a lot more dense and is starting to actually get a belly (which is the cutest thing ever!) Liberty is starting to get a little bit more of a belly as well. Constantine is getting more active, not losing any weight, but is building muscle and slimming down. We're a few weeks kibble free and its made a HUGE difference. I just fed the last of the soup so I need to go shopping! I will post later on what I made them for the week

It's so fantastic that you're seeing improvements in your furbabies. In all the years that I've been feeding raw, I'm still amazed in my furbabies improvements when they finally come off the kibbles. I don't think I can ever tell anyone (except the ones that switch their babies and see) the damage that is done by kibbles. I will pop in later tonight and see what you and your babies have got planned ciao

This week's menu: 2 pounds ground chicken 1/3 pound liver/blood fro package 1/3 package gizzards (no hearts, i feel lied to), (chunked) 6 whole eggs, yolk, white, and shell 2 chicken legs (meat/skin/tendons separated from bone, chunked) 1/2 chicken breast (chunked) I made all of the chunks 2-3 times bigger than last week. Instead of mixing with a mixer, I just mixed using a potato masher so things were more separated from the "soup" part of the mixture. This way they are eating more chunks, less soup. Just for fun I put out one of the chicken leg bones that still have a nibble or two of meat on it. Everyone is sleeping right now but I will let you know if anyone goes for it

Sounds like some excellent ideas. I will be interested to see if you're little ones chew on that bone you've offered them. I will also be interested in seeing what they think of the new sizes. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that they accept their new dinner pieces. Check with you tomorrow. ciao

Before I went to bed 80% of the chunks were sitting in the food bowl and the rest was eaten. They hadn't touched the bone. When I woke up, the bowl was completely empty... I didn't have much time so i just gave them some more food, but when I get home I'm going on a scavanger hunt! I KNOW they didn't eat that bone, and Constantine and May like to cache... I'll let you know where I find everything, lol!

Good luck If you're really lucky they will have eaten all of what you've given them.....but they're ferrets... The other day I gave chicken legs to everyone. My oldsters got one too. I looked in on them and thought crap they haven't touched the leg it's still in the bowl where I left it. Went to pull it out and give them some ground and discovered the leg stripped clean..no marks on the bone mind you but absolutely nothing left of the meat. They're getting quite fat Good luck on your scavenger hunt. I'm off to do one of those myself. I think they've stashed some behind my bed The joys of being a ferrant ciao
