I bought a pack of ground beef, some baby food soupie, and I am ready to feed! I also have two mice ready to be eaten. They are walking, opened eyes, and starting to eat mice. I am having an issue with canabalism. Someone keeps eating the baby mice. I had one mother pop and than saw that no babys are alive.

Mousie cannabalism isn't unusual, unfortunately . I found that if I offered a little bit of meat or some bones (usually left over fert munchies) that this kept this mousie munching to a minimum. Sometimes they do it out of stress, sometimes they need more protein in their diet (what do you feed them?) How did the meat mix go? ciao

Had to work last night. No meat mix. I feed them a pellet/seed type base with some added suplimented foods. Though, I need to start adding some meets as well.

Have you got any high protein kibbles...cat...ferret?? They will eat that too, and it seems to work in the same manner. Might be worth a try. There doesn't have to be a lot. ciao

I'm glad that you enjoyed college, that's fantastic Congratulations on the little kitty. If he/she is very tiny, don't let your furbabies play with him/her yet. If you read about kittens and ferrets in the "ferrets for dummies" book they advise not to mix kittens who are less that 4 months old with ferrets. Ferrets have much thicker skins than kitties and your guys can seriously hurt your new little friend. They won't mean to but my guys have made some nasty bites on my older kitties. Most of the time they're just trying to play, but playing with ferrets is learning how to hunt. You don't want them to hunt your newest little one . Good luck, are you going to feed your new little one a raw diet . ciao

I wanted to see what they did with each other. I know he is way too small to fend for himself, but i figured it wouldn't hurt to atleast do an introduction.
Not sure what lelloo was doing, but she would like nibble him, and than bite the back of his neck. She is the only one though, and everyone else is more or less like "oh..it's just a dumb cat"
I think I am going to feed this guy raw. His first meal here was my ferrets ground beef and baby food mix. He ended up having a very fat belly.
Can you maybe pair me back up with a mentor that knows how to do a cat? He's only 7-8 weeks old, and already taking raw meat. I gave him a good bit and after licking it first, He was eating and looking for more. I than made him a mostly ground beef mix with like haft a spoon of baby food. He had most of it, but was full and ended up walking away.
Also, For cats & dogs, Does the food have to be cooked?

Your little kitten requires the exact same mix and food as your ferrets. My kitties eat no different than my ferrets. My old siamese (21 yrs) has some stomach issues so I have to be careful but Merlyn eats everything that the ferrets eat right from the time he first came to me. Your kitten will switch just like a kit ferret. He will eat whatever you feed him and he requires the same meat, bone organ ratios. He will be your easiest switch . A dog requires a little higher veggie content than your ferrets and cat. Even the dogs requirements are similar. It's not so difficult . No need to cook anyone's diet, cat, ferret nor the dogs. If you're feeding fresh veggies to your dog (except treats) through it in the freezer first to break down the cell walls so that your dog can better utilize the veggies. If you have questions about them I can answer them for you. Up to you . ciao

Fed some beef liver to the animals and they looked at me like i was killing them, and boy did it STINK!
Simba ate some chicken, but wouldn't take it by himself. He was being all cautions. Sam on the other hand...started eating the chicken that simba did not. He was eating it off the bone, and so i may need to get some wings for him next.

I find that my guys aren't fond of liver by itself, that's why I feed it in my ground mix. I've got too much else to do than fight with a bunch of silly ferts who don't want to eat their organ meat. I find that everyone eats it when it's in their ground meats. I've got one lady who makes up a ground meat organ mix (really heavy on the organs) and she feed them this soupy once a or every other day in small amounts and her guys love it. It may very well be the texture...or the "smell" (yah it stinks) but your fellows aren't the only ones that turn their noses up at liver. Some really love it, just be careful that you don't feed too much as you will have really loose poopies. Also a word of note, their stools will get really black...it's just all the unprocessed blood that they're eating in the organ meat. Congratulations, to Sam. Yes, maybe a wing to two would be in order. Make sure you score the meat, it just seems to give them something to hang on to and tear at. Ferrets are not only opportunistic they're really lazy Good luck, I will be talking at you later. ciao

Simba is a 30-40 lb dog, and Sam is the newest addition, a 7-9 week old black kitten that was feral untill I rescued him from being stuck in an old fire pit with cement slabs squishing him. Though, I got paid so I am going to see about getting a blender finaly so i can make a mush out of organs for both the cat, dog, and ferrets. Update on the ferrets: I am now doing a little experiment to get the ferrets to see mice as food, and not just a treat. I give them food at night, but take it away before work/feed them all one blind, but furred mice. I go home, feed them mice, and than give them food for the night.

So...The mouse idea didn't last too long because of school stress and work being overloaded. I also have WAY too many babys to handle. They are up to subadult babys, and have a few issues dealing with the lots of furr. I took yesterday off from school due to be sick, and While i was sleeping in my brother came over to get gass out of the boat. Well, He found my smallest ferret by the garage outside. Ripply is one LUCKY ferret, because what if cj hasn't seen her, or hadn't come over. I wouldn't of noticed her untill I woke up and checked on them two hours latter. I check the doors everynight, and hae always been carefull, but i worked that night with no break, I was sick, and I most likely was just totaly out of it. Mice news: Lots of baby mice. My second colony had babies and the ferrets LOVE pinkies. My first colony has furbabys, and three subadults that are being culled slowly. I had like 30 mice.

Also, I turned my kitty into a killer. He is constantly meowing for food, and seems frantic when i bring out the raw chicken or what ever meat I have on hand. He also is attacking me at night, or just running across my shoulders while i am using the computer. Shesh. He's now the mean kitty because he does not know how to act Nice.
How many times a day Should i feed him because leaving food out = dog food. My mutt, simba, keeps eating the cats food.
