I acualy don't have a blender at the moment. My last one took a crap and I havn't been able to get another one. So, I have been making soups by having broth, and cooked chicken mushed together. I'll try to see if i can't get another blender soon. As for large mice. I gave them a haft grown adult mouse before and they wanted nothing to do with the body. I am guessing it is just too much for them? Day Three- I went ahead and fed them early today. I brought out one baby that was crawling with it's eyes opened, and a nother baby that was has its eyes clossed. Lelloo lost the first baby so I had to hunt it down. Jack killed the bigger baby. Everyone had chunks, leloo and jack were fighting over tearing the small baby to peices. I even got ripply to lick the back of the little mouse when lelloo tore it's furr off. Everything sounds horrible, but too me it was just another day at the park. Monster was the real eater today. He had his mouse in the food bowl and was feeding himself. They didn't finish all the mice bits, and left like a face, a leg, some bits and peices.

one more question- I have read before that some acualy have set times for ferret feedings. Twice a day feedings etc etc. I was wondering if it would be better to have set time feedings?
12pm Morning feed and 9pm Dinner Feed

Can you get commercial ground like what you would get from rodentpro or haretoday? That would work in place of the blender. Sounds like your guys are working well with the mice. Very good job. No, your guys escapades don't surprise or sound horrible I've got 17 ferrets....they're all hunters and they've hunted rats (not any more, they eat them a ratcicles) and full grown mice for fun, so no, your guys don't shock me at all They're just being ferrets. I have discovered that letting them hunt in the bath tub is much easier clean up and doesn't allow the "dinner" to get away As far as dinner times, I don't...they have food available 24/7 unless they run out while I'm at work. Ferrets are like cats they eat little dinners and have a digestive track that was created for many little feedings. So in truth feeding them once or twice a day like a dog isn't correct but many do it and are successful. See what your guys want, if you can work it that way then do it but it's not how I would do it Talk at you later ciao

Well....Bathtub wouldn't work. Mother would be like flipping out. I use to have a container, but used it a while back for something else. Rodent Pro is like...:screams: too expensive. I might get some ground meat from the store if I can find any. O.O Does it normaly take for ever for a 142 set to come in? I ordered from angie the day after i got my 142 and...:waits nicely: she said she sent it and was going to give pictures. But everyones been so busy.

I had a fall-out with my computer so I could not come on and update. I also missed a day because of work.
The mice are getting bigger and bigger. They are like mini mice now. Everyone has their eyes open, running around, etc etc. Next is when they start bitting your fingers upon pick-up. I fed one last night and two the day before. Only one for now though because I want the supply to last a lil-bit longer, and when I fed them two I was fighting to keep their interest. I'll feed again tomorow though because i need to work tonight and I won't get home till 11.
Thanks

What are you feeding other than the mice? The preys great don't get me wrong but you're not feeding enough to feed your little guys so you must be feeding something else. What else is in your guys diet? Good luck with your sewing ciao

Mice, Kibble, My mixture of Oils as a treat, N-bone treats when its bed-time, and the baby food chicken broth, lamb both etc baby food. I have to wait till paycheck before i can get a blender, and my whole chicken is frozen. May just cut some chicken up and add a little of the baby food.
They are eating mice, but have yet to realy live off them. I am sure if they had to live off mice, they would do fine. Everytime I feed mice, Lelloo uses me as a jungle gym to climb to get the dead mouse in my hand.
I'll let you know how the baby food/chicken goes.

You can feed just prey, but like the protein source you cannot feed just mice. You could feed mice, rats and .... hamsters of various ages then you would cover your necessary protein needs. Adding very small pieces of chicken to your baby food might be a good way to start them on frankenprey, especially if your guys really like their baby foods. Good luck, let me know how it goes and what you decide you want to do. ciao

I don't know exackly what I want to feed them. I started out wanting to do a combination of meats, and prey, but as time evolved, I have been doing more whole prey.
I am now realy on substituting their dinners and lunchs with whole prey since I only have a certian amount of whole prey to provide. I don't think i can do hamsters because I HAVE a pet hamster and he's my love bug. I also don't have room for rats unless i can find a good whole prey provider around my area. A nother thing to look up!
Woke up this morning and the plate was licked clean, but the big wing I left was untouched.

Try notching or cutting deep cuts in the wing, pulling the meat away from the bone. Leave the meat on the bone but give them some easier access to it. I found checking out reptile suppliers a great idea. Rodentpro is another for frozen prey. The unfortunate thing is that either way you look at it you're going to have to find supplies and suppliers. I find that's sometimes the most difficult part of the whole raw/prey feeding thing. It's one of the reasons why I use commercial ground, my own ground mix, frankenprey and prey live and frozen. That way I know that I'm covering all my guys nutritional needs. ciao

Fed them the last of my BIG mice last night. They demolished the poor thing. lelloo as always the more mouse loving ferret. The mouse was pretty big. It would of been ready to go into a nother container if i had sexed it to be a girl earlier.
I'll see if my local foodlion could do some kind of ground chicken, etc.
Could i use like ground beef and such?
Thanks.

You could use beef, pork, chicken or turkey (watch the turkey as up here for some strange reason they feel it needs to be flavoured with rosemary and salt ) Do you have the recipe to make up the ground raw for your guys? If you don't I will copy it for you. Talk at you later ciao
