You're getting there. You've got 4 almost 5 of your group eating raw. That's not bad...we have to work on those soupy sippers though ciao

Did I ever mention that Ripply has a back bone now? She attacked lelloo over a mouse chum, and even stuck her butt in the way of the other kids.
My ratties gave birth so everyone has fat pinkies to chomp on. YUM!

Yup. Now I just have to get them eating raw fluently. Are mice and Rat concidered the same meat to graduate? Or would i have to do something more of the lines of 2 raws and mice/rat

Rats are one protein, mice are another...if you could come up with another prey item that they would eat consistently you would graduate. If not, another protein source. Personally, I would try for 2; chicken and beef or something like that. The "minimum" requirement is 3 different protein sources. So right now, you've got them eating 2....one more and you graduate ciao

I want to get them to be eating chicken and bone asap. ^.^ So newest thing on the block- Ding had a taste of mouse last night. It wasn't voluntary, but he still chewed. Dakota acualy voluntared to chomp on a mouse tail. ^.^ Under a scruff, but it's what the other kids did just before acualy taking to meat. They act like they have to eat it because I will just keep forcing it on them. Ratties are almost fuzzie size. LOTS of cute kids. Do you have any advice on making a wood type cage for rats? i want to make a toper out of wood for the cage.

I don't keep rats....so I have no idea. Have you checked out some rat sites? I've heard they chew like crazy, I'm not sure you could make a top out of wood, but to be honest with you I don't know. Sounds like progress, slow but sure. Great stuff, keep offering it.

Great News!
Over the past week or two Lelloo, Monster, and Jack have gone from only eating raw chunks and mice..to Eating chicken wings, organs, Beef Heart, Rats, and Mice. Full Mice. And Wean sized FAT rats! Every night everyone gets a plate of organ meat, Chicken or Quail meat/bone parts, and some kind of rat or mouse.
Ripply and Pixie are feeding on mice/rats freely.
Swipper keeps tearing at the mice/rats but won't actually eat anything.
Bear and Dakota are in the same, " hell no we won't go " stance.
And surprisingly, dingo is tasting rodent. He is doing it freely when dangled above him. His mood is getting better again. ^.^

That is great I'm guessing by organ meat you're talking about heart and gibblets or gizzards? They're actually muscle meat, which is a good thing as they're high in taurine. You should only feed liver once a week or you can feed more often if mixed in your muscle meats. My guys get a little bit daily because it's mixed in with my rmb mixture. Your little ones are doing great I wouldn't be surprised if Swiper is eating prey shortly. Yay, Dingo...you go little, you eat those mousies Keep me posted ciao

organ meat is like what ever is in the bag that comes in a chicken divided into two weeks of meals. I also have some beef heart from a friend that got it from a backyard seller. (no I do not condone that kind of sell, but I could not just let it go to waste. I would never buy it from someone who doesn't do things humane. ) My 4 raw munchers are making small rats disappear over night. They tend to stash them and chow down in the middle of the night. I let them out and find nothing. My mice are old and swinging me tiny tiny mini mice. lol I swear I could breed them and create a generation of mini mice. It most likely would not happen, but it's a funny thought. Pixie is picking up with the three kids. I think she prefers warm meat compared to cold.

Are you feeding other bone in meat? Your juvenile rodents don't have a high enough calcium level to meet the ferret's requirements so you are going to have to feed other types of boned meat too. ciao

Don't worry! I ran off myself. Bone meats are usually whatever bones are in chicken, or the rodents. I need to work on feeding chicken again and leaving off my mice for a while! Dingo is eating pinkie mice! He is so cool! I also feel proud of him beyond just being happy. He makes me all giddy inside. Maybe it was when I took him outside to walk and explore, and he considered me okay? I've had him since feb, and am still trying to earn his trust. Oh! I have a video of dingo on the walk that is funny. I was watching him walk when you see my cat run past him, and than simba chasing the cat..Dingo picks up a trot and runs after them! Dingo should be a ferret to inspire other ferrets with his kind of story and medical problems. He's a naughty medicine man and likes to spit.
