GRR. I am REALLY pissed at my neighbors now...I cant watch that poor puppy suffer over there anymore
Ok so heres what happend...
A little background info- They are horrible dog people. First they had a little black puppy(some type of lab mix i think) and i would walk her and i taught her a bunch of things(sit, down, stay. the basics) She was usually chained up outside, with no water/shelter. They put her crate in their garage and left the door open as a "shelter" for her, but the chain was to short. She couldnt even reach into the garage. They had another dog at the time, Spike, who had some type of mange or somthing. They just let him roam around wherever. He was in the road usually every morning, im surprised he didnt get hit. Someone called the pound on them and they gave them a ticket and she took the black puppy inside and had Spike PTS. They dont seem to care at all, because the black puppy was ALWAYS in our yard. They didnt even know she was outside half the time. The one day not long after they were outside spraying her with the hose(she rolled in cat poop) and then went inside and left her out by herself. That was the day she got hit by a car. Then they got Jack, a little pap puppy, about a year after. The DAY they got him, i saw him sitting a foot into the road by himself. They had him for no less than a week, when i heard he "ran away". I think it was more of them letting him off leash and not watching him. They didnt even LOOK for him.
So heres whats happening now. Maybe like 6 months after jack "ran away", they got choko (you say it like choke-o. I cant say i like that name very much.. but i guess you gotta have a cool name for a big tuff pit) He was about 2months when they got him. They got him from some relative that "breeds" pits. Well, more like they have 2 pits and they breed them over and over and sell the puppies. They didnt have a leash or collar for him, so they used the flexi lead and just cliped it to itself and put the loop around his head. I met him on the 2nd day they had him, and the poor thing was so scared. The peoples kids were running him around and dragging him on the leash (yea, they let their 5year old daughter walk the puupy around...) The first time i took bailey and choko for a walk they became "brothers" instantly. They got some thing form the town that lets them get vaccines for free if they get them fixed (these people HAVE money. they both have jobs. they have 4 apartments they rent. They just re modled their whole upstairs and made an addition on the house) Plus he said something about his insurance was cheaper if he was fixed. But w/e, he just got neutered. Holy crap, they actually care about their dog? No. Hes been in our yard about a million times, and i have to bring him back over becasue they dont even notice hes missing. I remember one time i got back from school and at about 3:30 i noticed him in our yard (he was chewing on one of baileys bones, so at least it kept him busy) he was there until 5. The people were home, and they were even outside a couple times, and they didnt even NOTICE he was gone.
So it became a regular thing. Usually about 4-5 times a week, i'd rescue choko from the side of the road, or catch him running around in our yard, and bring him back to the neighbors. And most of the time all they'd say is "Oh i didnt even know he was outside... choko youre a BAD dog" and throw him in his crate.
So yesterday, i got back from the store around 3. At 4 i broiught bailey into the field to run and i saw choko tied up in the niehgbors yard, barking as usual (its not his fault, hes bored of not getting to do anything but be tied up or sit in a crate), and the people wernt home. So i didnt really think anything of it. It was a nasty cold and wet day, so bailey didnt get much exercise. So at like 7, we decided to bring him to the park. We had to walk by the neighbors house on the way back, it was completly dark but, i could hear him barking. He was STILL outside. and they wernt home still.
So i went into their backyard with a flashlight to check it out and they had him tied up on a dog run (they have a wheel on the plastic coated wire thing, but not the part that goes from the wheel to the dog) and he was attached to it by a rope tied to his CHOKE CHAIN. They had him tied up outside on a choke chain. WTH? Aparently thats his only collar now. They had a harness for him, but they never took it off of him ( i mean never, it was on him 24/7 even at night) and eventually he chewed it. So i looked around the area (there was garbage and junk all over the place) and he had NO dog house. He was huddled up next to the back of their garage trying to get out of the wind. And when i looked around some more i didnt see a water bowl anywhere. So i looked at him sitting shivering next to their garage and there was NO way i was leaving him there. So basicly i stole their dog. Not like they would care anyways but. I made the rope look like it had been chewed (they probably know that i took him anyways, but i dont care)
Omg when he came inside he must have drank a whole gallon of water. He was SO thirsty. I let him and Bailey play out in the field for a little bit just cause choko had so much energy from being tied all day, and when we came back inside him and bailey fell asleep next to eachother on the bed. I kept checking out the window to see if they were back yet.. and FINALLY they got back.. at 11pm. So if i hadent take him, he would have been outside without shelter(its reeeally cold here right now BTW) or water for at least 8 hours. Hes only 6 months old!!!! Someone knocked at the door at about 11;30, but i didnt answer. Im sure they knew we had him. But i wasnt about to let him go back over there just to be shoved in a crate.
The wife came over at about 10;30 in the morning asking if we had him. (If they wernt our neighbors, i wouldnt have given him back. but it would be kind of hard to hide him from them considering we live 1 house apart) It was a "family emergency". Same as it was last time. It seems they have a "family emergency" every weekend. They dont seem to have any problem picking up their kids and bringing them to a relatives house or whatever they do. She didnt seem to like what i had to say, i dont think we are friends with the nieghbors anymore lol. I told her we already called the pound and if they dont want a ticket he needs to have a house or some type of shelter and water outside for him (we havent actually called them yet... but if it happens again we will. this isnt the first time, but its worse now that the temp outside is freezing. They built an addition on their house.. but they cant get shelter for their dog?) They didnt even have a leash to bring him back nextdoor, i had to let them use one of mine.
What should i do? we're deffinetly going to call the pound (we dont have any humane society around here or anything) He doesnt deserve to be treated like they treat him. I mean I know hes a "vicious pitbull " but still. They already know im willing to take him. Ive offered many times when they've shown they obviously couldnt care less about the poor dog.
