I think you hit the nail on the head as to why you had funky poops: the lack of bone and the kibble. No worries, their poopies should go back to normal soon.

Oh good....
We had our playgroup on Saturday and that evening and all three fuzzies had funky kibble poop. How did that feeding schedule look Giuli? Do you think they need more variety in organs or anything else?

Schedule looks good. I'm just going to make a few small tweaks: Here is your schedule:Raw Meaty Bone Chicken Neck Raw Meaty Bone Chicken Wings Organ Beef Liver and Lamb Kidney Boneless Meat Beef Chunks Raw Meaty Bone Cornish Game Hen / Adult Mice (for Didj and Mona) Raw Meaty Bone Cornish Game Hen Boneless Meat Pork Chunks & Chicken Heart Here is the tweaked schedule:Raw meaty bone- Chicken wings, legs, or thighs (switch it up each week) Organ- Beef Liver and Lamb Kidney. I would also feed chicken hearts and gizzards on this day (even though they arent technically organs) and I'd also throw in a chicken neck or a whole egg (with shell) to add some fiber. Organ poopies can get kind of runny. The fiber from the shell or bone can really help to keep things from turning into a tar pit (pardon the graphic description lol ) Boneless Meat Beef Chunks Raw Meaty Bone Cornish Game Hen/ Adult Mice Boneless Pork Chunks Raw Meaty Bone: Cornish Game Hen Raw Meaty Bone: Turkey Necks I got rid of the chicken necks, and added them to organ meat day. I replaced the chicken neck meal with a turkey neck meal. IMO turkey necks are meatier and are "meal quality/quantity", while chicken necks are pretty small and boney, more of a snack. Give this a looksie and let me know what ya think. So are the babies all eating *whole* raw meaty bones yet?

The description of organ poo was disgusting but perfect! Your adjustments look great. I actually have turkey neck in my freezer that I had bought for the ferrets but I thought it was too thick... they are getting closer to eating that size though!
They aren't eating whole RMBs yet, but I bought more drumsticks over the weekend so they will try them tomorrow. Tonight I am feeding 1/4 cornish game hen, so that is even bigger than a drumstick. I will let you know how it goes!

How is Ernie doing with the RMB's? I hope he's getting encouragemnt from his brothers and sisters A little competition for food can go a long ways. About the funky poops after the ferret bash you went to - stress could have easily been a factor as well. Are the poop back to normal now? -jennifer

I just gave them dinner: 1/4 cornish game hen cut in two pieces. Each piece was almost as big as my palm, about the same size of a small drumstick. Didjeridu decided he was full from snacking all day on pork and beef, which gave Ernie and Ramona a chance to eat instead of being bullied out of their food. Both did a great job eating such huge pieces of meat! I dipped them in egg from earlier for flavor, and both kids ate some meat and some bone (neck/breast)! I'm so proud. The ate about the same amount, and Ramona stashed hers in their new box in their cage. Didj didn't eat any but he was distracted by my feet. I know he will eat off of chunks that big when he is hungry! Tomorrow they will get to finish their CGH chunks for breakfast and eat drumsticks for dinner I feel bad, I know Didjeridu could be much happier eating whole prey! I don't have too much left and I want to give it to him gradually. Poor guy. He loves mice now! and baby rabbit is gold!

I am *thrilled* to hear that they are eating bigger RMBs! Yay! You are SO close to graduating. Lets give it about 2-3 more days to see how they do with bigger RMBs and if all goes well, you'll be ready to graduate!

This is so wonderful!!!!! You should be VERY PROUD - you've worked very to reach this goal, and your brats love their new menu...even Ernie loves it Guili can help you tweak your requirements for graduation (I feed commercial raw with RMB more as treats. So Guili is much better qualified to fine-tune feeding schedules. I'm still freaking out at how quicking Ernie adapted once he decided to be a "real ferret" (But don't worry, I know he's still going to be the "mama's boy" that loves yo be held and cuddled(just like my Tonto!!!! Have fun watching your brats eating RMB's - that's a great accomplishment! -jennifer

Thanks for the encouragement guys! Everyone is still having kind of funky poops. They haven't eaten much since the weekend so I am wondering if they realized they were eating for 6 instead of three last week, if they have been dissatisfied with what I have been offering, or if they are feeling funky... I hope this isn't caused from their playgroup...? Tomorrow I will feed Didj and Ramona mice for breakfast. If they aren't acting as thrilled as they should about them, I will see about taking them to the vet. Tonight I'm feeding them whole chicken drum sticks... this is the first time I have fed them WHOLE drumsticks... wish us luck!

Sweet! A new addition! I want info! I want info! She's already eating raw? Being a baby that wouldnt suprise me. As for your kiddos funky poops, it happens from time to time. Give it a few days and see what happens, I have a feeling once they are on the whole, raw, meaty bones their poopies will get better. Let me know what happens.

Oh how SWEET! I wish my guy would bring home a new ferret!!! He just gripes about my kids and won't let them have whole prey . I've thought about trading him in for a ferret a few times I hope your kids didn't pick up some kind of tummy bug from the play group - I know that happens every once in a great while at our ferret club get-togethers. I don't bring my brats since I don't need the headache of possibly picking up something we don't need to be dealing with. Congrats on your new baby - that's the easiest delivery I've heard of to date -jennifer
