If you want to try this with your new one just give her a chunk of chicken you might have to play tug of war with her but she should go right after it and eat it. When we got Crash he was about 9 weeks old too and when we got him home hubby played tug of war with him a piece of chicken and 10 mins later he was a raw feed ferret. As you know all of your babies are not going to be on the same stage but if you have some that are close and they see her eating the chunks they might want to try them too and they may not need the soup much longer. And yes i know its hard and a pain having 2 ferrets on this stage and 4 on this one and 2 o0n this one but like kids you gotta let them work at their own pace.

Jetta is eating small chunks of raw chicken...no kibble or soupie added. Everyone else is napping, so, I will have to try them later!

my two pet store babies that were switched when brought home (Crash and Riely) along with Hydra will not go near any kibble. sometimes they find the dog and cat kibble in living room durring play time and the rest eat it these 3 will not.

First of all, thanks for updating my title. We are 7 plus one. I will take it easy on you all for a while, and not add anymore...for a while. My soup, if you want to even call it that, is blended chicken and kibble with a little bit of broth. The kibble part has been decreased with my last making, so it is mostly chicken. I also added some egg shell to the mixture as well. After I warm it up a tad, I add a few kibble sized chunks of chicken to the top (which Jetta loves!). That is my so called soupie. I no longer use the vite or tone with the food, and don't soupify it with broth either. My other older guys aren't so sure about the chicken chunks just yet. Husband apparently is still sneaking kibble, but told me this morning (after seeing the struggle for me to get them to eat) that he won't be doing that anymore. Now, if he'd only listened to me days ago........

Yeah Go Hubby!!! OK your "soup" sounds good. With the ones that are eating the chunks have you thought of getting some chicken wings and playing tug of war with them to see what they do, they might shock you and try eating the wings. BTW you are doing a GREAT JOB!!!

Thanks! I couldn't do this without all of your help! BTW, can a 9 week old eat bone? It isn't too hard for her? I am thinking about introducing chicken liver (only once per week, though) and seeing how that goes. I am going to probably try this tonight with their next batch of soupie stew I make.

We got our crash when he was about 8 weeks old and he was eating bone but just the little ones frm the cronish game hens and from chicken wings. Just so you know my guys do not no matter what eat liver unless it is in their whole prey. So you know if they dont eat it, mine wont either. Also i was just talking to my hubby about you ( hope you dont mind) he mentioned that when we were making our soup we added some olive oil.

Well, I gave my guys chicken liver last night....and they all snubbed it. All except Jetta, who inhaled it! I do have a problem, though. It seems Sassy is starting to rebel now. We use Feline Pine in our litter boxes, and she has decided she will eat that instead! I can't imagine that litter tastes better than meat (ick)! I have dumped all the litter, and am just using paper towel in the bottom of their boxes. I just can't catch a break!

Delilah did the whole "eating litter" thing. I found out it was because she wasnt eating as much as I thought. Any time I caught her trying to eat the litter, I put her in the cage with some warm soupie. She ate that instead, and then stopped paying attention to the litter. And litter definitly DOESNT taste good like meat, but its texture is similar to what she is used to eating. Its kind of sad actually. It breaks my heart that ferrets think hard and crunchcy things are food. Hang in there! You've been a trooper! De was VERY resistant at first to eating the soupie, but shes doing loads better now! She inhales her soup, I had to double her daily portion! Horray! Shes even starting to eat a thicker soup (like a stew). If I can get an 8 year old to switch, I have faith that we can get your 8 kiddos to switch. Patience is key! and I am proud for the level of patience you've exhibited. Lets see what Jas has to say....
