When you attend AFA-sanctioned shows, all ferrets are checked at the door for current shots (distemper, raboies) and current ADV test results. They should be checking documentation for each ferret at the door before they let you in. I have titers checked on my ferrets before administering distemper shots since the possibility of a reaction to the shot is higher (and usually much more severe) for ferrets than for cats & dogs. I do not vaccinate for rabies. And my brats have been tested for ADV, but the test is not current. Ilso, Denver is so far wawy from everything that I'd have to fly to the shows, which a lot fo people do with ferrets. THere's only one airline that allows ferrets in the passenger area - Delta. I'll have a 5-hour transit time with a plane change in Chicago - what a pain...can't even imagine dragging my brats around. Beside I love to help my friends prep their ferrets for their classes. Its so much fun to "molest" all the cute ferrets. My friend has a huge boy that weighs in a 6 (yes, that's six) pounds - and he's such a big cuddle-bear - so much fun to squeeze and give kisses!!!! Well, we won't even mention the shopping!!!! Bring lots of buck and a HUGE, EMPTY backpack (or suitcase) -jennifer

I emailed Scarlett about bringing my ferret who will NOT be competing, and I asked about bringing a bookbag or carrier to keep him in as well. This is what she wrote back: ALL ferrets that come into the show hall MUST have written proof of a current rabies and distemper vaccinations (between dates of Aug. 26, 2007 & Aug. 9, 2008. ) Rabies certificate must be from a vet. Distemper can be date and a label if you or shelter do it. If just boosters can be right up to day before show. ADV test MUST be current within 6 months of show. Between Feb. 23, 2008 and Aug. 22, 2008. ADV must be done by either Avecon or Blue Cross Hospital and must have written proof from either. Instant saliva tests and ELISA blood tests are not accepted. Avecon and Blue Cross contact info is in show paperwork. Show hall is air conditioned but you should at least bring a carrier with litterbox, bedding, food and water with you if you plan on staying for more than a couple hours. They still need water and a place to go potty. :>) And, the fun events can be entered the day of the show. Tube racing, best dressed, paperbag excape.. :>) Hope that answers your questions. Does anyone know if they have ferrets up for adoption at the show? I might end up skipping the show in favor of adopting a new ferret that day!

There WIILL be a lot of shelters selling cool stuff to raise money. I've never seen any adoptable ferrets at shows unless they were pre-arranged (i.i., some of the DMK ferrets were transferred through the shows. BUT - this required that proof of vaccination, ADV testing, etc.) I'll be bummed out if I don't get to meet you since emailing has been lots of fun! But I do understand ferret math!!! (I also understand ferret envy - I WANT ANOTHER FUZZY TOO- but 4 is definitely my limit. Whatever you decide, you'll have lots of fun -jennifer PS - did I tell that Apple is so adorable in his picture? for apple right on the end of his sweet little nose!!!!

OK, well I am getting my new ferret this Saturday. What a cutie, check my thread Help Finding Ferret for Adoption for updates. Anyway, now I can go to Buckeye Bash! I won't be bringing either ferret, but I will take photos of them before and have them on my digital camera! So make sure everyone else, you do the same! If gas prices don't go scary high, I will def be there for some shopping and fuzzy playtime! I may even put off some purchases until that day....maybe!

EVERYONE GOING TO BUCKEYE BASH: ATTENTION!
I have a bag of Evo Ferret (6.6lbs) that I am looking to sell. I've had it a few months and it still looks full. I bought it from Stinkweasels and it was $17 I think. I'm asking about $15 OBO for the bag since it is open and some is gone. It definitely is more than 3/4 full, and now you won't have to pay shipping like I did.
The reason I am selling is because it has chicken and I am looking for a chicken-free kibble for Apple because of his sensitivities.
Does anyone know if I can bring this bag into the hall? Or if I need to do any transactions outside the hall? I'm just looking for cash for this, or maybe a better trade! (Like a cuddle cup...or something)

I don't think it would be a problem. Worst case, you bring and take it back to the car! Since we plan to meet at the Bash, I'll give you $20. for it. If anybody on this forum wants, they're welcome to it...otherwise I will donate it to a shelter at the Bash. I know some of the shelter people, so I'm sure one of them will take it since they know me. I like to help out where I can. -jennifer

I always think about going to the Buckeye Bash since it is just a few hours from me. BUT I have neve rmade it. I went to a show in Pittsburgh once though. They are interesting and have good ferret stuff for sale. The Buckeye Bash is the same weekend as a big dog show and same as setup for our county fair (I'm a 4H advisor) so since I can't show my ferrets the other things pretty much win out every year.
