Okay so not only am i a superhero nerd (hehe), Beast Has gone from kibble to raw meat in less than 24 hours i was so proud when i woke up this morning (at 7 am mind you) and all the chicken i gave him was gone. So i chopped some more up dusted it with kibble crumbs and put it back in his bowl in his laundry room (which is where i've been keeping him since i feel bad about hw small his cage is even though he prefers to sleep in it. But his new cage will be here today.) And he immediadtley attacked it and when i tried to play with him (morning romp time) he looked at me like "ma im eating cme back in a few hours" =) oh it filled my heart with joy =) I hope the rest of you have as easy a transition as i did, And on a side note. I havent had my first ferret a WEEK yet and ferret math has already kicked in my friends aunt in arizona do not feel they have the time or energy to properly care for a ferret so the net time they come up to michigan to visit family they will be bringing my new addition (which i tried to pump Cierra for information for but she cant remembe if it was male or female or fied since the last time she saw it was after thy first got it one or two years ago) Yay farret math and me wanting to save the world one fuzzy critter at a time

Whoo hooo!!!!! So he's eating chicken chunks coated with kibble? Okay, your next step is to stop adding kibble to the chunks. Then you need to gradually increase the size of the chunks. Then take a chicken wing and cut it into 3 segments (at the joints) cut some gashes into the wing (so Beast can get a good grip) and offer him that. He should be eating bone in no time!

Now all i gotta do is figure out how to post pics so you all can see pics of Beast and Mi Furry Famillia. =) but thats another subject. Im glad he was so easy to switch.. i expected it to be more difficult (ferrets being notoriously piky eaters and all) But Beast pleasantly surprises me at every turn =)

Heres todays update. His feces became runny. so i gave him more watter and mixed the kibble back in with his meat. hes only ever been fed marshall kibble. So i will SLOWLY reduce the amount of kibble i give him just to get his tummy used to no kibble. He loves chicken absolutely loves it i might go pick some mice up today when i get my check from work. So hes willing to change foods but his digestive system isnt so ready. We;ll work on it though =) y'all have a nice day and PS I got his hammock in the mail today im still waiting on my cage but oh well =)

Runny poop is normal. No matter how slow you go, you'll probably encounter it. IMO its best to just push through and get them onto raw. IMO keeping him on kibble AND raw will only prolong the digestive upset. Get some pedialyte (to keep him hydrated)As long as you keep him hydrated he'll be fine.

Okay sounds good to me =) his poos solidified back up though but next feeding time i'll remove the kibble even thought when i mixed it in he tried to pick around it the silly boy he knows whats good for him. im going to try a piece of a chicken wing tommorrow. you slice it open in 3 spots along the section of chicken wing right?

here's an update, this morning before giving him a chicken wing i gave him a winglette sized chunk of chicken breast. After a few faulty starts he got to eating it aand is doing very well. =) Im so proud of my little carnivore. Oh and giuli, its not just vets who think an all meat diet is bad for ferrets. i had someone tell me last night that i am going to turn my ferret into a vicious animal. I directed him t this site after he told me that ALL animals that are fed an all natural (raw meat) diet would become more agressive. I told him there were a BUNCH of exceptions to that "rule" here =) he shut up after he came here and rad some stuff. Back to beast though. He shows no signs of having trouble ripping his meat. but he has gotten a lot mor energetic and i didnt give him any kibble this morning like you said i'll pick up some pedialyte on my way home from work. Thank you guys for all your help =) Im gonna throw him on a chicken winglette tonight.

Heres another update. He is currently crunching a bone and looking at melike "mmm momma this is gewd stuffs!" So we are on to bone-in meat now. in less than a week. He will have some organs later i picked some up today while at the grocerie store. You can get a huge package of liver for 1.75 and a package of gizzards for 1.95 and a bag of frozen winglettes for 5 dollars. and thats enough to feed him for a while and less than what i paid for 24 ounces of marshall kibble. =) yay beast. Thank you guys =D

Wow! Im gone a day and look how far you've come! Im so excited for you! Excellent, excellent! Graduated to bone-in meat already! Rock on! Now that he is eating bone, let him have another day or so to practice on the wingettes then move him onto WHOLE chicken wings, legs, and thighs. You can freeze the wingettes and keep them for "snacks" (because they really arent big enough for whole meals, I only use them to help transition to bone and for snacks). LIver and gizzards are excellent. Your little one should be onto meat/bone/organ in no time! Your end goal should be to feed: Raw Meaty Bones (think bone in meat like chicken wings/legs/thighs, turkey necks, cornish game hen) 4 days per week Boneless Muscle Meat 2 days per week (think boneless pork, beef, or turkey chunks) you can add some crushed eggshell to the chunks for extra calcium, but its not necessary. Organ meat 1 day per week (liver, kidney, stuff like that. Heart and gizzards arent technically organs, but I still feed them on this day). Good luck and keep us posted! Im proud of your little man (and I bet you are too!)

So he ate the bone and for a treat last night he got a liver and i suppose he liked it cause it was gone when i woke up =P hes so energetic and he plays more than he eats some times hes so busy playing he forgets to eat so i have to lock him in his cage with his food bowl (this is after 4 to 6 hours without eating.) Well my breakfast is ready i'll update again tomorrow. Hes a good boy =)
