I can just picture the cat...I was baby sitting friend's ferts and cats. All the sudden the cat comes flying across the room full speed with one of the tiny girl ferrets latched on to the sdie of the cat's shoulder like a remora fish hanging off a shark!!! It was hysterical - but the poor cat didn't share my opinion -jennifer

YAY Beast!!! He sounds lke a little meat grinder So since Beast eats everything you offer, you may want to start thinking about what your regular feeding schedule (mucle meat, organ meats, raw meaty bone, whole prey, which meat sources, such as lamb, chicken, mice, etc.) will start to look like. I'd fefinitely try some mice as well. Remeber that adult mice have more calcium , so the smaller mice such as pinkies should be fed as treas. Sme ferrets start out with pinkies and graduate to fuzzies and adult mice. Your poor kitties wil learn to avoid the Beast -jennifer

1. I LOVE your banner 2. That is too funny about the *dook dooks* been there, done that 3. Congrats! Because Beast is eating a variety of raw foods, meat/bone/organ, and because your feeding schedule has been reviewed, you are ready to "graduate!"!!!! Now there is one last thing I want you to do (and then I am moving this thread to the "newbie switch archive": If you havent already, it might be a good idea to start popping in to the yahoo! group NaturalFerrets. I know yahoo! lists suck (the format) BUT there are many many senior raw feeders on there and it would be wise to make use of their knowledge. I try and advise all my "completed switchers" to get on there and post a bit. I still want you to say on HF, but I want you to "broaden your horizons" by getting a bit of NaturalFerret's info as well. Sound good? pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalFerrets/You'll probably run in to the Holistic Ferret Mentors on there. This is where THEY go to ask THEIR questions on natural diet (I do too). Let me know if you get any good info out of here. and....... Now that you've completed the switch, have had your feeding schedule reviewd, and been advised to check out NaturalFerrets, its time to retire this thread to the "newbie switch archive"! No one (yourself included) will be able to post in this thread anymore once its been moved to the archive. Please begin posting your diet-related questions in the "whole prey" "raw" or "general feeding questions and discussion" area. We encourage EVERYONE that is archived to continue posting. Feeding a natural diet is a learning PROCESS, there is much to learn after making the switch. Feel free to jump in and help to answer newbie questions. One of the ways you can learn is through teaching. We hope you stick around so that we can celebrate the 1 year anniversary of starting your baby on raw with you!

3 Months Since the Switch- EVALUATION #1: 1. Since switching to a natural diet, what are the most noticable changes you have noticed in your ferret(s). Please be specific. Well i switched him so young there wasnt any super noticable difference in his personality or energy. His fur is so soft and silky and he is SO BIG. 2. Have you filled out the "Natural Diet Survey"? (If not, please do by going to the following link: holisticferret.proboards80.com/in....play&thread=241)3. Please post a "sample weekly feeding schedule". Basically, give us an idea of what you feed your ferret(s) each week. This way we can review it (again) and let you know if you need to make any changes to ensure proper nutrition. Post your schedule in the following format: MONDAY: cornish game hen for breakfast 2 mice for lunch and some duck at dinner time TUESDAY:Chicken giblets. at lunch. One liver in the morning for breakfast along with a chicken leg or thigh He gets an egg and some beef for dinner WEDNESDAY:Woohoo turkey day! He gets a whole turkey wing for breakfast along with a juvenile mouse At lunch he gets venison and dinner time is pork THURSDAY:Well he gets more giblets and recently hes gotten a bit of venison kidney because my dad got a dear. He gets veal and a chicken neck for lunch And some chicken breast with the skin and bone for dinner FRIDAY:Friday is usually a special day. friday is the day he comes to school with me and then we go to the meat market and pick up whatever he says he wants. for breakfast he gets an egg and a couplea chicken wings. SATURDAY:WHOLE PREY DAY. Mice and baby chickens and bugs and maybe a rat if they have some frozen at the petstore. On these days i just let hi have a free for all in the tub and then let him take his kills back to his cage for mowing down. SUNDAY: Sunday is the lazy day. =) on saturdays i let him kill enough for two days and then he gets his favorite food. aged rodents =P He likes to stash and let his mice age so i give him the chance for some aged whole prey on sundays with a but of fish from moms sushi thrown in 4. Do you have any questions or concearns regarding your ferret(s) diet? 5. Do you have any new "diet goals" for your ferrets that you would like us to help you with, such as: adding whole prey to the diet, diversifying the types of meat fed, or incorporating freeze-dried or commercial raw foods? If so, please specify. I dont have any goals currently beast is fat and healthy everyone exclaims how they've never seen a fert like him before. And HES happy which is all that matters to me. 6. How was your experience with the Holistic Ferret Mentor Program? What did you like about the program? What didn't you like? What can we do to make our program better?I graduated before the mentor program was fully situated. Giuli you personally guided and monitored beasts switch. Though i mist say i love the mentor program.

Looks like your schedule has lots of variety. That is great How much of the turkey wing does he actually eat? Turkey wing bones are kind of hard to eat, you might want to substitute with a more edible turkey bone (necks or tails) Luckily, because of thanksgiving you can find these in most grocery stores that dont normally carry these "weird" turkey parts. If beast likes these turkey RMBS you might want to "stock up". They are cheap and not always readily available other times of the year. I'm so thrilled to have you on as a "Mentor in Training" and I'm so proud of how far you've come in getting Beast onto raw and now you are helping others put their ferrets onto raw. I couldn't be more proud.

6 Months Since the Switch- EVALUATION #2: 1. Its been six months since you and your ferrets graduated from the Holistic Ferret Mentor Program. Are you still feeding a kibble-free, natural diet? If yes, why? If no, why? Yes the benifits out weigh any inconveniences caused by said diet BOO KIBBLE.. 2. Since its been six months since you graduated from the HF Mentor Program, you are now eligable to become a Holistic Ferret Mentor. Do you have any interest in becoming a mentor? There is NO obligation. If interested, please read the following info to see if you are capable of making such a commitment to being a mentor:I already am a mentor in training thanks for asking though. 3. Please post a "sample weekly feeding schedule". Basically, give us an idea of what you feed your ferret(s) each week. This way we can review it (again) and let you know if you need to make any changes to ensure proper nutrition. Post your schedule in the following format:MONDAY: cornish game hen for breakfast 2 mice for lunch and some duck at dinner time TUESDAY:Chicken giblets. at lunch. Do you have any questions or concearns regarding your ferret(s) diet?None at all everything is great =) 5. After switching to a natural diet I'm sure you noticed numerable changes immediately. After six months of feeding naturally, what would you say is the most notable improvement in your ferret's health? His fur is so shiny and soft. Also, when he goes with me people remark on how odorless he is!

Its great to see you incorporating whole prey into his diet. I will have to change the title under your username from "Raw Feeder" to "Raw and Whole Prey Feeder". Thanks for your dedication and hard work in the mentor program. Wow, can you believe its been 6 months! Can't wait to celebrate the one year anniversary of the switch to natural with you!
