Just found some at my local grocery store (they never have these so it was a big suprise) Im excited to try them out with the ferts and the kitty, hopefully they'll like em. Anyone else tried these with their furbabies? Did they like them?

I tried these last week on my kits because my butcher gave made me a great deal, $1/package (~3lbs of meat!). Anyway they seemed to like them okay but they were pretty tough for my guys. I had to make some cuts in them to get them started. The dogs absolutely love them too.

Thanks Dr. Christy  With the dogs did you give them whole ox tails or the ox tail segments? If they are bigger dogs it might be safest to offer them WHOLE oxtails instead of the segments (which sometimes might gulp down, which would cause pretty obvious problems lol). Were your babies able to eat the ox tail bone? Normally I dont feed bones from larger animals (like elk, cow, or pig) but since its from the tail (and it doesnt bear any weight) I figured they *might* be able to eat it. |

My guys did not eat the bones but they hadn't been eating bones very long when I offered it. They did have fun chewing on them though.
As far as my dogs go they are segments but they are pretty large segments and my dogs are used to chewing bones so I have never had a problem with them swallowing them.

I JUST saw what these look like when I was out shopping for raw! Those things are HUGE! Do you feed the whole thing? How do you cut through that?? My guys would look at me like I was crazy if I laid those down to eat! I think I'll stick with the easy stuff for now.  |

The ones I got were cute into like 1inch segments. It wasnt a whole tail lol

Im late on this but I feed ox tails from time to time, the place where i get my rabbit for the critters sells them and they are cut into about 1 inch segments. Mine love these and when i go to clean out the cage after feeding i usally find only small chunks of bone

Sailor used to LOVE oxtail. She'd plow right through them! I would buy them in one-inch segments and they never lasted long.
