I like that....especially the way you have the two cages together. If only I could convince my husband into getting another 142 and 143 to add on to mine!

I wish I could get another 142 to attach to mine. I like it like that. Also who did you ramp covers and shelf covers and floor mats?

I've been looking to get another FN 142 to do just that LOL. Your cages looks GREAT! I have a question to ask you though. If you need to, for any reason separate your kids, how easy is it to put the two side panel's back on? I have a 142, but I've never taken it apart or put it together.

What did you use to connect the two FN142s?

This is BRILLIANT! We have 2 FN142's as well and had been putting off connecting them together. We're not exactly helpless with tools but we still dreaded the prospect of cutting the wire, putting connecting tubes in, and ruining 2 perfectly good cages in the process. I just showed the pics to my husband and both hung our heads in shame. we couldn't believe why we didn't see that solution before. Question: the white playpen fence looks very climbable. Do you actually leave the cage doors open when the ferts are unsupervised? How do you get them to stay in the pen?

The playpen fence, if its the one I'm thinking, isn't very climbable. I thought so as well, but I use it for my doors (to my bedroom, and the living room stairs). None of them can climb it, and I have my ferrets out 24/7. My girls would be able to get out of ferretpalooza, because the can climb the ferret nation really well, but my boys wouldn't think about it.

Yup, the white playpen fence was what I was talking about. Not climbable, eh? Then I need me one of those in my house! All the baby gates we'd try were too climbable and we ended up returning all of them. Can you tell me what brand that is or where can I order/ buy one? Thanks!

To answer the questions above. I just used the plastic zip ties so you just cut them off if you need to change/take it apart. I have other pens zip tied to the deck out back. Pens and zip ties have been a great investment with these guys.....LOL No, they do not climb the fences, but note they are zip tied tight to the cage so they can not use the cage and fence together. Only the inside door is left open/removed or they could get over the fence. That way they have a little pen area to get out of the cage. Yes, they are left to play in the entire area while we are away. That is actually two playpens connected in that pic. They are standard small animal/ferret pens. I order most of my stuff at ferret.com cause the shipping is a flat rate of 6.99 no matter how much it weighs. I would be a little bit of work to put the side panels in but I can separate the top from the bottom. You could always leave a side panel in the top so you would be able to separate in three areas. I like them having two levels of six feet wide space to play in. Yes, this is a great setup and they absoulutely love it. I also put lineloum on the bottom racks so yet another 6 foot area to play or put in some more litter pans.

I really like the "play area" in front of the cage. You have inspired me. I'm definitely going to do that!

That's a cool set-up. I really wanted something like that for my ferrets.

Unfortunately, mine climb the FN on a regular basis, and some of them really believe they can fly . They'd be over that fence in two seconds flat
