Where do you get beef and chicken hearts?? I found beef and chicken livers and gizzareds at the grocery. Im trying to find a butcher outside the city limits to maybe find variety. I have also heard of crushed eggshell vice bone meal powder, is that something you buy or you crack that many eggs and crush them yourself? Do you feed the ferrets raw eggs?? How often/how much per ferret??

I am by no means an expert and I'm sure others will provide answers but:
My local grocer carries chicken hearts and gizzaards together.
I crush my own eggshell. Just wash them out and let them dry. Then crush them with the back of a spoon. Takes a while. Others here use a coffee or spice grinder.
I give each ferret one raw egg per week. Just mix it up first.
Hope this helps.

I just found turkey hearts at a Publix in a nearby town. ALso this particular publix offers a good supply of chicken necks and chicken backs, but no cornish hens- well not the ones that are all natural. They didn't have chicken gizzards or hearts!
Right now I shop between Publix, Food Lion, Walmart and Winn Dixie to get different meaty bone items. A couple butcher shops have offered rabbit and turkey necks as well as chicken feet.
Pet shops/reptile houses, bait shops offer sources for invertebrates, live prey and variety enrichment prey.
I am always on the prowl for things that my ferrets might find delicious!
Cheers, Kim
