Hey guys why dont we organize a ferret fair. We can pick a decently populated area somewhere that we could all get to without too much hassle and bring our ferrets bring stuff on the benefits of a natural diet and educate the surrounding city about ferrets then we could meet some of the other ferret members and have a giant ferret play date =) I dunno why but it seems like a good idea my parents are on motorcycle and snowmobile forums and they do mass snowmobile trips to canada and bike week out in vegas like once a year. maybe we could do a ferret fair =D (if i'm crazy just tell me but it seems like a good idea)

There are similar things. I know there's a few ferret thingys out west, and then Buckeye Bash in Columbus this August (you're in MI, you should def go!). However I don't know if any are specific to natural ferret care. I know there are symposiums, don't really know what that is though. Its definitely something to think about, however there would be so much planning involved and everyone's ferrets would need to get tested for ADV, etc. It would need to be a job for someone who's a great organizer and planner! Thats not me! Plus, unless it was in the surrounding states of Ohio, theres no way I could afford it. As much fun as that would be!  |

I agree it does sound like a good idea but you would need to have a few of them as some of us could not travel accross the country. And it would take alot of planning, not my strong suite either i can hardly plan dinner  |

Its just an idea and i meant for this forum specifically. =D and since it was my idea i'd do the organizing we'd all have to communicate to agree on a spot but im sure it could be done and for who cant travel super far we can do more than one for specific areas and i know the ferrets would need testing. so far its just a small idea not in the big time planning stages. just the preliminary stage where we find if people would actually come.

I just thought it would be a great way for some of us to get to know eachother and god forbid if someof us had t get rid of fuzzies due to financial or oter issues we could have backups with compatible ferret families =D

If you are interested in planning something like this give me a pm and we could split up duties such as finding a place to do it and a day to do it food whos coming hotels to give us discounts for members coming and staying whos going to make health benefit charts ect ect. we could do them all over and to help fund we could have breeders actually come (natural feeding ones of course) to advertise

You sound like quite the planner. I suggest you bring this to Giuli's attention and maybe she can sticky this so it pops up at the top of each section. Then see if it gets more attention, and then we can all work from there. This sounds like lots of fun, I would love to participate or help, whether or not I could make it!!

I was thinking have a mini ferret show (just a little beginner one) and charge a little fee to do it and then whatever profit we make (after paying for our space) we can donate to the local ferret rescue shelter. =D so not only is it getting it out there about the holistic approach its benefiting the ferrets that people couldnt take care of because of the dreaded impulse buying. =D i will forsure PM Giuli about this...

I think it would be fantastic, not that you guys would ever cross borders to get up here  We never have any ferret shows up here, so you would have to take lots of photos and fill us in  We would have to live vicariously through you guys ;D ciao |

Well here was what I was thinking. Maybe not a ferret show that WE put on, BUT..... Starting in August I will be attending ferret shows across the US to promote the HF website and forum and teach about natural feeding. It would be wonderful to have assistance with working these events. If anyone from the HF would be interested in coming to a ferret show and assisting me I would really appreciate it I need to work a few things out but I could post a list of upcoming ferret shows (and which ones I can and cant attend). Members could sign up for shows and help me present to people about natural feeding (The more help I get the better!) |

I am still learning though, and I can probably only make it to shows in northeast KY, almost anywhere in Ohio, near Richmond, IN, and maybe around Detroit, MI. I'll help too. anywhere in michigan some in ohio some in indiana and illinois too. i go down to alabama from time to time to visit family so anything in that area im planning on going to the buckey bash (if i can get beast tested in time)
