Woo Hoo!!! I recognize a lot of people here. Im Sandy and mom to a wild bunch of 7 ferrets...Mad Max, Miss Sully, Buster Brown, Boudreaux Pierre, Killa Man, Seed of Chuckie and Bubba Boy. 6 of the 7 have had parasites and ECE so we have a lot of fragile tummies. I would love to get my babies eating raw. All the foods on the market have so much crap in them. Im using the best I can right now. I did get a live mouse from the pet store and Boudreaux took him out and ate the head immediately, however, my vet doesnt like the idea of pet store mice because she is afraid they may carry parasites and mine have been through too much of all that. They have been healthy since Nov but we still have a lot of strange poos off and on. Anyhoo, glad to be here and Im psyched for a great change for the ferrets!!!!!!!

Hi and Welcome I have a Mad Max too Our ferrets can handle a lot of more stuff than we give them credit for. Bonus, to your boy for the munchings and crunchings. You will find a lot of helpful people here. So ask questions..go fill out the form in the newbies section and we can start to help you get those little furbabies on the road to raw foods that will help those touchy little tummies. There are many ways to switch, though your one boy has already told you the way he wants to go Hope to see you around. We'll be looking for you ;D ciao

Hi Ferretpalooza! Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear your guys are aggravated by ECE. I've not had any experience with that *knocks on wood* but have experience feeding while prey.
I''d venture a guess that the whole prey diet and raw natural meats being easier to digest and more appropriate for your ferret may in fact alleviate many of their tummy troubles!
I've fed whole prey for a couple years now and have not had any instances of parasitic transfers from the mice to the ferrets. You can always freeze the mice before feeding(but thaw to eat) and this will eliminate many parasite concerns and still allow your ferrets wholesome nutrition!
Glad to have you here! Cheers, Kim

I love the pics of your furbabies. Your Mad Max looks like my Aremis. Aremis did have a blaze at one time...it seems to have faded away (doesn't matter, his deafness hasn't) They are beautiful furbabies. ciao

I thought our Max's look a lot alike with the "football paint" under their eyes. The pointed nose and everything. I was cracking.

Is your Max a real brat and way too smart for his own good ?? My Max is one of my senior citizens and not only figures things out (like opening drawers, cupboards, closets, climbing up in closets) he believes that it's his responsibility to teach the younger ones how to do these things too. He was also my major max biter. I don't know anything about his past, except he was dumped off along with 3 other poor little souls and he's been living with me for over 4 yrs. ciao

He was a rescue from someone moving into a FEMA trailer that couldnt take him. He has always been a sweetie and was our second ferret so he is Miss Sully's love.....LOL OK, so now I need a dead bolt on the front door, eh???

Beautiful ferts! I absolutely love Seed of Chuckie. I love the dark well defined masks. And Bubba Boy is such a cutie patottie! I have had so much help here with switching my two, you will too.
