Congrats on the new addition!
I have taken in obese rescues and IME keeping them just on chicken backs (just 1 -2 a day) for a month or so really helped them drop the weight.

Thanks.. We took him to have his sutures removed Today and he's lost another 2 pounds, so that's a total of 4 pounds in 17 days. The vet said NO exercise until his sutures were removed, if he were getting exercise I'm SURE he would have lost more then that. He gets 1/4 pound of raw twice a day, he's already getting beef and pork with no tummy upsets. Turns out he was 49 or 50 pounds when he first came there, now he is 38.

That's great Maria! Glad he is losing steadily. Beagles seem very prone to becoming overweight but it sounds like you'll have him in shape in no time.
