Hey guys! Told you I would post Anyway, on Monday July 14 I got my eyes dilated for them to take some measurements of my cornea and pupils. Soooo weird btw. They gave me 1 drop of a numbing stuff so they could measure my cornea. That was weird, poked my eye and I felt nothing, but saw a ripple like water on the spot. Then they gave me these lame sunglass inserts to put in front of my glasses, closest to my face so I could walk outside. Looking at me it looked black, couldn't see my eyes. But me looking out, it seemed like a mild dark sunglass. I had to drive back to Dayton that day because I'm getting the surgery done in Toledo so my Mom can help me. When you get your pupils dilated its like you are far-sighted (I am near-sighted), so I could see far away with my glasses on, and not close up. I had a killer headache and decided to nap at 10am to get rid of this headache! Then I drove back to Dayton, skipped work because I had Kiwi with me, (who pooped twice in the litter box while in the car...talk about disgusting smells!). I went to Walgreens to pick up the Papaya that I need for them (check out Kiwi's Diet thread), and while I was there trying to read the little type was impossible! LOL With my stupid sunglass inserts (flimsy films) I looked stupid walking through parking lots like that! It was so bright though! My pupils took over my eyes. I may have had a little string of color left, but the rest was a black hold. Lets just say little sunlight was sooo painful! I will continue to update this for you, tonight I am picking up my eye drops and my 1 valium pill for before and after the surgery. I'll let you know how much that will be! Sigh...

The eye drops were $30 for my copay (so with insurance), and my 1 Valium (which btw is the smallest pill ever) was $8. Eye drops are never cheap, in my experience they have even been $40! These drops are 3 a day for 1 week after the surgery. I take 1/2 valium 30mins before surgery, and the other 1/2 after surgery. Also bought 3 24oz beers and some Gouda cheese=$10. LOL It will be a good weekend! Its supposed to be 90s and I will be outside the whole time, so I can use these good beers!!

I've started taking Goldenseal and Echinacea herb pills because they supposedly boost your immune system. Mine isn't lacking now, however if anything gets in my eyes during the first week I could easily get an infection! So I decided to start taking 1 a day (you can take up to 4) to help myself.
PS. These supplements are also good for UTIs. Much cheaper than going to a doctor and paying your copay (for me $30 every time) plus whatever pills they give. Also, cranberry extract pills. Thats just an FYI.

OMG my surgery is tomorrow!
I was panicky over the weekend, mostly because of Apple and both our recovery times! However, talking with my boyfriend and then concentrating on what Apple needs has me less panicked then before. My boyfriend is confident I will be able to see great, everything will go good, and I won't be blind when its over!
So not so crazy anymore. However, i won't be on the forum much for the next few days. I might be online Tuesday morning to update everyone on Apple's progress, but I won't be on again until Wednesday afternoon, if not later because I go out of town that night!
I will update you all! Wish me luck! BYEBYE

Alright guys!! I got it done yesterday!! I am now looking at my computer that is 5+ inches from my face and able to read clearly! Yes, things are fuzzy and I won't be able to see Batman this weekend like I've been excited for!! Sucks! Well, maybe things will get better by Friday, but not sure. I'll have to give a more detailed description of how things went down later.
But lets just say I wasn't completely prepared! It did take less than 15mins for the whole procedure. I also highly recommended going laser not microkeratome. Its more expensive, yes, but way less scary!

OK, so its almost a week and things are still blurry in low light. I'm a little disappointed. I thought my sight would be much better by now. I still can't see movies and there's no way I can drive at night! Lights are huge! So yeah, its disappointing and I'm trying to keep those thoughts to myself even though I heard the disappointment in my Mom's voice when she excitedly asked how my vision was yesterday.
I have a follow-up appointment on Thursday and he will do more measuring. I will ask more questions than. I hope this isn't a sign that I need another surgery. That would really be depressing, but free. Its really frustrating that I can't see when it is dark or even around 6pm in my apartment I can't rely on my 1 big window anymore for light, I need to turn on other lights so that I can see. Sometimes Kiwi blends into the walls and I can't see her. Which becomes a panic because otherwise she is super quiet when she walks around, I have to stop moving and turn everything off to strain to hear her!
Anyway, I see best early morning with sunglasses on and afternoon. Otherwise its slightly fuzzy later afternoon, and then gets fuzzier as it gets darker, until its 9pm at night and street lights look like large balloons. Like the size of those workout balls that you sit on. So driving is not an option.

Thanks Jenn!
So I went and saw The Dark Knight last night. Great movie, but eyes not as bad as I was expecting! I guess the large screen and bright lights counteracted my darkness problem! Awesome!
However driving at night still a no-go. I called my Lasik place and inquired about the drastic difference of my right eye. They said I had "deep corneas". What does that mean? Apparently makes it longer for my eyes to heal? Either way, its early in the game so it doesn't mean much. If its like this in a month or 2 I assume then it might be a problem, but I hope that doesn't happen! Its hard for me to keep taking off work, then I have to work over those weeks to make up the time so I don't take my 2 days of vacation I have left.
Tomorrow is my 1 week follow-up appointment. Takes about 10mins, now its not so cool since I have to drive 2.5 hours north for each appointment. Also, the doctor is only in on Tuesday-Thursdays, so no Monday or Friday appointments! Uncool.

Are things any better? The eye is supposed to be the quickest healing part of the body so hopefully things are better. I have Astigmatism which I inharited.. It's extremely annoying but I don't *have* to wear glasses all the time (even though it helps A LOT). I got glasses not even a year ago but obviously because of what it is I've had it all my life. I thought there was something wrong with my vision. My dads parents had vision problems and my mom and her side of the family but my dad has the eyes of a hawk so its stupid that I have problems, but understandable.
Anyway, hope all is well.

Not really, I got tested yesterday morning for a check-up and I could see almost none of those little letters in the eye exam for my right eye. It sucked. But he said to just wait because its still early. He said I had deep corneas and maybe that had something to do with it. Who knows what that means??
But my left is pretty well healed. He said my eyes were under-corrected (duh). But again, it may start catching up in the next 3 weeks. Thats when I go back. We'll see, but I really think that means another surgery is more than likely. That would really suck, but I am pretty sure it would be free.
Also, today is my first day of stopping taking the eye drops. I used them for one week, and now I am done. However I woke up this morning with a terrible headache that I think is contributing to my eyes hurting, like pressure is right in that area. It could easily be because I am super tired. Home for a nap ASAP after work! But yeah, so I'm not feeling well and really would love to lay down for an hour nap.
