Hey everyone thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Kelsey and I'm a 21 year old college student and I live in North Dakota. I have 3 babies. My oldest is Willy, he's about 5 I'm guessing, and he has insulinoma and adrenal. Then there's Punk who is think is around 3 or 4, and he's healthy so far haha. And last there's Shiza, who's only about 6 months old. I myself am a vegetarian but I know that I can get the nutrients to be healthy so I don't feel bad at all about feeding my ferrets raw meat haha. I'm just unsure of how to start them on it. The duck soup I make has ground turkey with some organs in it, and some nupro and water. Willy and Shiza love it but Punk won't go near it lol so I think he's going to be my biggest challenge in changing. But I'm just concerned that Willy is sort of weak and won't be able to tear the meat because he's sick. But I'm going to try! Nice to meet everyone!

I was told that Shiza means s**t in German. I'm not sure if that's true or not lol but I thought it was funny. Not sure how it's actually spelled though.

Hi and welcome There's always one that's the hold out but when they finally get the hang of this they're the one that decides it's all the way raw and then you can't fill them Try giving Punk a snuggle and then dipping a bit on his nose so that he has to lick it off. He'll probably spit and gag and pretend that you're poisoning him. Just keep doing that through the day. When I see that they're willingly licking it off my finger then I offer it on a spoon. Sometimes, you have to let them lick it off your finger a couple of times and then offer the spoon again, but it usually works very well. You have to remember they don't really recognize what you're offering as food. With the other guys just keep adding more and more raw until it's nothing but....then your half way there. Then you have to make the ultimate descision....how far do you want to take this. Ground raw (not as good for the teeth but still better for the ferret than kibble), chunked meats (frankenprey, better ... offering good work on the jaws, better cleaning of teeth, and stimulation for the ferret)...or the absolute best which would be whole prey. This isn't for everyone, certainly not for the faint of heart or the person who feels sorry for that cute little mouse, as you are now going to feed it as dinner. Read through the posts ask questions. That's what we're here for. There is almost always someone poking around that might be able to answer your questions. So don't be shy. Talk at you soon ciao
