my name is tink and i have two fuzzbutts... baby bear is a DEW (deafie as well) and was my first ferret..he is going to be a year old next month but is very big (i think it's because he's canadian?) and is a little sweetie. monkey i adopted from a shelter..he is aproximately two years old and went through about four homes before finally getting to the shelter. he is a sable and lost a lot of weight when he got home (probably due to the good food and hours of exercise). he's a good boy, gave kisses from the start, had some anxiety issues that i was going to hit him or something but he is working through them and is figuring out no matter how naughty he is, mommy will never hurt him. nice to meet you all, can't wait to talk and get to know you! tink

Hi Tink, and welcome. This is a fantastic group of people. Your furbabies are adorable It's so horrible how the babies get passed from one home to the next like someones dirty socks. Most of my guys have been through multiple homes and they so want to be loved. I wish you great success in getting your little fellow to understand that you will never hurt him. The feeling of total success when both of you realize that he's entirely safe and you've helped him reach that point is so fulfilling. Please feel free to ask questions read messages. There's a huge amount of information available to you. You need only to ask Don't make a stranger of yourself ;D ciao

I'm Glad Monkey found a forver home. I have a deaf boy as well. And if I could go back and change it I wouldn't because the way I feel if someone else were to have gotten him he would have gone back to the store several times for "not minding" and biting. Those were both quickly fixed with a little bit of raw food, love and sign language for coming. I still need to learn more with him but right now for NO I just hold his back to my chest while scruffing and saying NO sternly so he can get used to that certain vibration. Its cute he sighs every time and gets the picture.

There's a huge amount of information available to you. You need only to ask Don't make a stranger of yourself ;D ciao you're right. the moments monkey shows me trust and little turning points of progress it is SO rewarding. i can't imagine how FOUR homes gave him up and apparently he was at the shelter for quite awhile even though he's only two..which means he never could have adjusted to a home for long. the fear he has of me hitting him just shows me he wasn't properly handled. i find it AMAZING how after all that he has such a great personality. he's never even bitten me agressively. he reminds me of a puppy, if he's worried he'll roll over and show me his tummy and lick my hand almost like a dog "submitting" to the alpha. poor baby, breaks my heart when i think of what he went through. and at the shelter, he was listed as "doesn't get along with others" so he was in a cage ALL BY HIMSELF . just makes me want to spoil him SO very much. he wants to be loved and show affection toward me so bad, i can tell. i'm constantly telling him i love him and even using some ferretone and soupies for bribery though he must feel i'm safe as he does come to his name now
