So today I took my ferrets to a better vet. See the original vet canceled on me saying the shots they ordered were in back order...I can another ferret specialist and they tell me the shots will be in weds. if I want to bring my ferrets there. I did and I'm glad I did. This vet was so much more knowledgeable then the first vet I took them to. He was thorough and said my babies won't need another booster til next year. Also said he didn't want to give them any heartguard because it's not really healthy for them. No ear mites! Hocus weighs 2.3 pounds and pocus weighs 2 pounds. I know these guys are big because they ate an entire cornish hen yesterday. lol They're doing good and will be in possibly in two weeks for their rabies vaccine.

Did your vet ask what you were feeding? If so, what was the reaction. Happy to hear the visit went well and that the boys are happy and healthy! Yay, cornish game hen. Mmmmm!!!

It is great! It cost me 90 bucks for both, but worth it since the vet is good. No he didn't ask me what they ate but my daughters gave them a load of information. They didn't say anything lol

Hocus weighs 2.3 pounds and pocus weighs 2 pounds. Pocus is actually looking a lot thicker then hocus is now. He's turning out to be a beautiful ferret. They're both about 18 weeks.

Geez Oliver is 7 monthes old and he was 1.11 pounds!! My vet is not very knowledgable on ferrets, so I need to find a better one, but my mom will only drive a short ways. When my vet asked what I fed my ferret I was like a raw diet. And he's like I've never heard of that brand. :-P. So I explained to him what it was and such. It was quite funny seeing the look on his face as I explained what meat I feed him and that yes the food is raw when I feed him. He thought that was weird.

Many vets are not familiar with raw diets as you can probably tell I wish there was more education in vet schools about this way of feeding, but unfourtunately there is not

More and more vets are seeing successes and are starting to put two and two together and are asking and learning about natural diets but there is still many who will give you the line of salmonella and all that cr**. According to my regular vet, there's little to nothing taught about nutrition other than what kibbles to feed for various diseases. I just finished spending close to an hour arguing with a vet who was taking my vet's clients because my vet was ill. I would have cancelled my appointment if I'd known my regular vet wasn't in. This girl was pleasant enough but was fresh out of school and had all the answers. I felt like I was listning to her read a Hill's kibble brochure ciao
