Got my hubby very interested in ferrets now lol he thinks they're cute and came to me with a TON of questions and things people were telling him (non ferret people). I reassured him about everything so he's basically ready haha The ferret(s) are suppose to be a gift for me and he's like "hey when are we getting the ferret(s)...we?! lol

That's great! I am glad he is showing more interest! Just out of curiosity, what questions did he have?

People have been telling him they stink..they pee alot and pee all over your house..that they're rodents..I'm like those people must have never come across ferrets before.. On a side note my neighbors from when I resided in chicago use to have about 4 ferrets..I use to play with them every chance I got..they never smelled..so this info he's getting from others just baffles me.

Well here is what I think: 1. Unfourtunately I bet alot of people dont feed their ferrets the best food, or keep their living quarters that clean. This could be a big reason people say ferrets smell. My boys have almost NO odor ever since they started on their whole prey/raw diet. 2. "They pee all over the house"- Some people might not have the knowledge or patience to potty train their ferret(s). Having ferrets is alot like having a puppy for 6-10 years. They will never be 100% litter box trained (most wont, some might), but just like with a young puppy, if you work around a schedule you can normally get them to proper potty area before they have an accident. 3. "They are rodents." This is just a lack of information. As I am sure you know, ferts certainly are NOT rodents, just look at their teeth, they EAT rodents! 4. Another common thing people say about ferrets is that they bite. What I think this stems from is people either a.) keeping their ferrets caged too much so that when they finally get out they go nuts or b.) they dont know the importance of "nip training" (teach your fert not to bite). Its unfourtunate that so many people have misconceptions of ferrets. Once you get your ferrets they can be "good ferret ambassadors" as long as you train them well. It will take work and time, but its so worth it.

Ya it is a shame that people only go by word of mouth. I think my ferret(s) will just have to prove my hubbys "info people" wrong lol
