Mac was among 3 boy rattys that I adopted from boston in june. Only 6 mths! He was a Lab ratty and I was told about 9 mths of age. I met them at Penn station in NYC. They were dirty tired and hungry after a long trip. When I got them home I discovered because of their former "home" they did not know how to climb a ladder....know how to jump and were afraid of large spaces. Their cage is the same size as a double FN. I had to change evrything until their muscles were strong enough to support them. Mac was always the sweet one. Ready for daily pets and of course the treats. He so fast became my heart ratty. how dare he!! Well yesterday he had aheart attack out of the blue. He was healthy and strong the night before...climbing the cage for a treat and I let him out for roaming time. I miss by big mush I miss him laying on my arm blissfully with me petting him and saying sweet nothins to him. RIP my big mushy and play hard. Love you lots!

I'm so sorry...I've never had rats but I know how hard it is to loose little critters even if they're only with you for a short time...

I am so sorry! Losing any beloved pet is never easy, especially when it's so unexpected

I'm so sorry for you loss of a furfriend. I will light a candle for your gentle little one. To guide his little paws on to his next great adventure. I don't know how long little rats are supposed to live but you gave him love and all the things that are craved by any little creature in our care. ciao

I'm sorry. That is one of the downfalls of keeping ratties as pets, they don't live a very long life. I used to keep them too, and they were wonderful, sweet pets, but I couldn't keep doing it with the lifespan(2-4 years). So sorry again you lost little Mac.

Hi Tinytippy, I am so sorry for your loss. I held my first rat just a few days ago and it was a magical moment for me, so much so that we will be getting some at some point this year. I know you must miss him something terrible - those eyes so full of love and adoration, really so much like ferrets in mischievousness and sleeping habits. *hugs* So glad you gave him a full and loved life!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have never kept a ratty, but I hope to do so one day. I hope my future rat baby is as sweet as your mac was. xoxo I'll keep you and Mac in my thoughts!
