His poops were well formed and "normal looking when I brought him home. I forgot to ask if they were feeding him dry kibble or moistened. I offered him moistened but he didn't want it or he wasn't hungry yet. I gave him dry and he ate it. He only had a little bit of dry kibble since I had him then I switched him to raw chicken chunks breaded in his kibble. His bum is irritated and it bothers him and me. His poop looks like what it would look like if he had a partial blockage but there is nothing here that he could have eaten unless it was from the little bit of dry food. I am thinking it could possibly be from his early neutering and descenting why its irritated. So here are the pix. I need to know if this looks like a normal raw fed poop. (it is the size of a quarter) And heres his bum. It is red but its not bleeding and it only looks like that when i pulled his tail down to get the pic.

thats the best i could do. As long as he is pooping though i shouldn't be too worried right. I mean i really think it is from his recent surgery. Any opinions?

Are you feeding bone yet? Once you feed bone that poop should firm up just fine.
His bum looks a little irritated, I would keep an eye on it. The short switch from wet kibble to dry could have caused some irritation, but since you are feeding raw now, I wouldnt worry. Again just moniter the bum and if you notice he's not pooping at all, or if his bum looks WAY more irritated, then you'd want to take him to the vet immediately.

I heard a&d ointment can help out on their little booties when they're red and poked out like that..also dipping his rear in some luke warm water. I wouldn't worry about the poops. Mine have solid poops and then mushy..depending on what I give them. As long as he's pooping and it isn't straight up water.

The kit I adopted 2 weeks back (at 9 weeks) had poo and a bum that looked similar. I think it is normal considering all the stress, diet, and other changes they have gone through. Jetta is perfectly fine now!

I informed Guili when I first got him he was crying out when he pooped but that was only like 3 times and I think it was because the dry kibble I gave him because he wouldn't eat wet or he wasn't hungry yet. Either way hes on raw now.

I was worried about putting anything on his butt cuz what if he licks it off you know??? But where did you read about the A&D? I would rather use that then prep H. You think vitamin E will work by itself to keep it moist or what if i just used plain vasaline?

This is an excellent page about what to do in case your ferret has a full prolapse. It is a skunk site but the treatment would be the same either way: www.skunkhaven.net/Prolapse.htm
