Hi everyone,
I have been a long time admirer of Ferrets but never an owner. I recently decided that it was about time I stepped up and become an owner!
I have been researching and reading both books and online sites and forums to find out as much as I can about the little critters before taking the plunge. I have decided that I want to start off with two or three ferrets so that they can keep each other company when I am not around. I plan to buy myself a nice big mult-level cage (Something like this) with lots of hammocks, houses and toys to give them plenty of room when they are not out and about playing.
I also think that I am going to be feeding them on a raw/whole diet. I am used to feeding whole from when I owned a little corn snake many years ago. I have been reading up on the Holistic Ferret forum to further my knowledge in this area but any further advice people can give me on what to expect would not be unappreciated!
Finally I should mention that I am in the UK, I have not yet started to look into where I can actually buy my fuzzies yet as I figure there is no point in doing that until I am 100% ready to take them home. I wouldn't want to find a pair and fall in love before I was all set up and ready. However again if anyone has any advice as to where is a good place to be looking for ferrets in the UK I would be very happy to hear it.
Anyway I have been enjoying reading everyone's stories and seeing the pictures of their own ferrets and hope to be able to contribute my own in a couple of months! However until then I hope no one minds if I ask some questions around then forum.
