I was just talking to an "old friend" and he recently moved back in with his dad from his mums house (they are split up, he didnt like his mum anyway), they (him and his brother) moved with 3 ferrets, 2 trios of rabbits, 3 dogs, 2 horses (1 shetland Joey and a shetland that had a double dwarfing gene Chav) and about 24 rats (everybody lost count 
) so the whole thing was pretty hectic, but mainly the horses; He left them in the stable (his dad owns a farm, so the stables are about 6meters by 4 meters) for a day and a half then took them out to the feild, lunged them (put them on a long lead rope and got him to walk/trot in a circle around him) to get used to the field and other horses then he took him out the field, left them over night and once again took him back out but let him (Joey) free, everything went great and he was acting normal in the field and the guy went to take him out the gate (he has been fine with them before, apart from on one occasion when he bucked it and took the skin of his thigh but that was when he was a terror) and he bucked against the gate but caught his knee on the gate, grazed all down his leg, dislocated it in its joint, and broke a little bit of a bone and the vet dosent think because he is so old (about 28-32 yrs old) he wont pull through the operation, but it is worth the try becuase without it he wouldnt have a quality of life at all, please keep him in your thoughts, he will be having the op in about half an hour - my friend is absolutely crushed though, he has been through thick and thin with this pony, been kicked here and there, bitten, fliped off a few times - so from an out of control pony, that wouldnt even be lead, bites, kicks and rears up at every person going near him he turned into a cool, calm, pony and was the most amazing driving pony I have ever seen and he is so obedient. I belive he can do it, but its alot to ask from such an old, little guy so Joey - "Stay, with me. Dont fall asleep to soon - the angels can wait for a moment"Just please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, I will try update ASAP
I am extremely sad to say that he passed away during the op, but it wasnt actually the op - when they took x-rays they made sure nothing (organs, artcherys etc) were in the joint so they could "slip" the joint into place safely, but they *think* it was when the muscles relaxed from the anesthetic an artchery pushed into the joint, when they slipped the leg back it obviously burst and he lost too much blood
