I just got home from work and found that the top of Hiro's ordinarilly light pink nose is red. It almost looks like he's been dragging it on the carpet, except that it's only just the top where his fur meets the bare skin. I can't tell if Snickers is also experiencing some sort of irritation, because her nose has dark coloring.
Other possibly relevant (or irrelevant) facts: they are currently on a one raw soup/ground meat meal per day, one kibble meal per day regimen, and I introduced a new kibble to their diet about two weeks ago, which they don't love but should be healthier for them (Go!Natural instead of Natural Balance). Also, I have a cold, which he could be catching I guess, but like I said, redness is on the top of his nose, not his nostrils.
Has anyone else encountered anything like this? Should I be concerned? He seems ok otherwise.

I'm just going to guess here. Cause sometime my ferrets play rough, well usually Huck, and sometimes he gets a hold of their noses for some reason, and that makes them red where he bit them.

Keep an eye on it, but it is quite likely what my vet refers to as a "war wound" from them wrestling. I know Suki banged her nose really hard one day, and it was quite red for a while.

I would keep an eye on it, but it sounds like somebody "kissed" the carpet I've had a couple of fuzzes who have found themselves on the receiving end of a carpet drag or a crape that left pink noses a little on the red side ciao

Thanks everyone for the replies! The redness has faded as of last night (I just didn't get a chance to log on and post it- I noticed it was better when I was getting ready for bed) I think it must have been just what ya'll said- a bit of carpet burn or a bump/scratch from playing to hard. Sometimes I am really over paranoid about these little guys! Glad I found this site where those who know ferrets can offer advice/ reassurance.

As do we all I'm glad he's better, and that it was something simple!
