Hello!
Normally I never make an introduction thread for forums, so forgive me if I ramble on about nothing interesting
My name is Heather, I live in SLC, Utah. I've been lurking the forum for a little bit now, learning as much as I can before I actually bought my little guy. Since I am now a proud mommy, I figured I should join in the community. You all seem so nice and helpful!
When I was about 13/14 we went to a pet store that had ferrets, and I fell in love. They were adorable! I asked my parents to let me get one when we got home, and they said if I could call the pet shop and ask how much they were, they would consider it. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but I used to get a lot of anxiety just thinking about talking to people on the phone [Still kinda do...] But I worked up the courage, called, and never got my ferret
Well today, I finally got my first ferret! It was love at first sight [well for me, he was sleeping] and I'm so happy! I've spent all day watching him explore my room. Seems to me it is expertly ferret proofed...so far...
He is so funny, and bursting with personality. He is about 3 months old. I got him from a pet store, and he is a Marshalls ferret so I can't say EXACTLY how old he is. [FYI: I really don't enjoy supporting pet stores, I looked for breeders, and looked for baby ferrets from shelters with no luck I made sure the pet store was highly rated, and the animals were well cared for just to make myself feel better about it.]
As of right now he is nameless, til I get a better idea of his personality on a daily basis. It's either gonna be Blackstar, or Soul Eater [Soul for short]...I'm thinking he's more a Soul Eater. The names are from an anime, called Soul Eater, if you were wondering why the funky choices
Ok this is getting much too long now, and I'm sure you're all bored. But since I know ya'll will be more excited than anyone else I know I have to tell.
Of course there were many potty accidents today, and I was never quick enough to get him to a litter box. In fact, after the first time I caught him it was almost as if he waited til I was distracted...smart little guy! But he took a nap in my lap and when he woke up I put him in the litter box til he went. Then the very next time he had to go he went into the litter box! I was ecstatic! I could have done my OWN war dance!
Now, what you all really want, PICTURES!
Edit: Suppose I should tell ya'll my diet plans since that's mostly what this forum is for. Of course, coming from a pet store he is currently eating kibble. I figured I'd give him some time to adjust to his new home before attempting to switch his eating habits too, but I'm hoping since he is so young he'll take to it quick. I plan on doing a whole prey diet (frozen and live). But I'm gonna introduce him to as many different foods as I can get my hands on while he is still young.

And I think they are ALL little soul eaters, to be honest. At least that's the part of us they seem to steal all the time
