That sounds about right...they wake up, play hard then sleep for a long time. Babies sleep long than when they get older, but ferrets in general sleep ALOT. I think my hubby would LOVE to come back as a ferret in his next life...LOL

I'm remembering Napoleon (the only kit I've ever had) and he would play hard for a couple of hours and then sleep most of the day away. He would appear and play a couple of times during the day, but for the most part he would sleep. It's the same thing though with the older ones too. When I let 11 of the 13 little bums out first thing in the morning they're all out and into everything. That's when I open the door to their play pen outside and tell them to go dig holes. They come back a little more sedate, with really muddy feet but they've had fun, they're ready to chase the cat and pester the new puppy. They're all in bed by around 11:00 or noon with only guest appearances to get some food or use a litter box. Ciao

Most ferrets are active in the early morning and evening hours, they sleep 14 - 20 hrs a day, your baby will get use to your schedule and be more active when he is out.
My 13 are use to my schedule and as soon as i get home from work they wake up for play time and wake me up in the wee hours of the morning to play with them. They play for like 2 hours when i get home then go down for a power nap and then they wake up for more pooping and tormenting of me.

Apple pretty much knows my schedule and was surprised when I was home during the day all last week. He wouldn't even get up for heavy playing during those times! But around 4pm he is ready for some heavy playing for the next few hours. Then in the evening I take him outside for playtime. But yeah, he sleeps a lot. Wakes up 6am for a poop and scratch at the litter box and his morning meal, then back to sleep until I get home at 4pm. Then for the next 6 hours or so he is awake playing and exploring, and only goes down for a 2 hour nap in between there. So yes, they sleep a ton!
